Bit me...

No graphic photos, no ER horror stories, just a nice cut that took a minute to stop bleeding and may leave a nice scar. Had just finished mowing, wore the Boss Jack the whole time, and was checking her out one last time before putting her down for the night & she bit me. I dropped it and tried to catch it, stopped when I felt the cut. Nothing major, but did remind me to be more careful, especially when I'm tired. I think she heard me complaining that she wasn't sharp enough to cut paper a while back, now I'm glad I hadn't sharpened her yet:D I carried her in the woods again just last night to let her know there were no hard feelings, even though the machete got the workout.

I did exactly the same thing with a folder I have. It's difficult explaining to people what happened. "You tried to CATCH the knife? In mid air? Are you stupid?". That's what I always hear. I try to tell them that it was like slow motion and I couldn't stop myself. It's just reaction. I'm sorry for you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Yep i think we've all been bit at least once. But next time you drop her just let her fall. You know Infi can take it. Well be careful Greg and good thing it was'nt a Battle Mistress of some type. It could have been worse.

"Of course I tried to catch my knife? You don't let a good tool fall and hit the ground!" Or at least that's what I say when I cut myself trying to catch it.

It's wierd ain't it? We'll beat the hell out of these knives, but we won't let them fall and touch the ground when we drop them.

She would have taken a toe hitting the dirt, GOOD SAVE

That's the first thing I tell new people here at the shop. "If it falls just let it go." It never seems to work though. I think everybody just has to try to catch one and get cut before the learn. Just reflex and human nature I guess. Oh well, chicks dig scars. Heaven knows I have a few.

Glad you are OK Greg.:D

That's easy for you to say. You make them beautiful Busses. I'd let one stab me in the foot before I'd let it bounce off the concrete. :foot:

You made her watch?! That's cold...

WTH are you thinkin', man??? ...If you make her jealous, she will bite you! Seems she's jealous of the mower but wait til she gets you back for using the MACHETE in front of her, too!!!

;):D:D

Sorry to hear about the 'bite', but I'm relieved that it wasn't worse...dang reflexes are hard to overcome sometimes, ain't they? I did the same thing with a BATAC about 2 years ago, and it got me good for catching it...on the blade, edge in. :o OUCH!

I tried to "catch" my FBMLE once. Had to go get stitches. Thought I might have damaged the tendon in my right middle finger.

In my defense, I was on the stairs, the knife was moving toward my bare feet and legs. It I had a perfect handle grab lined up, and right before I got it, it took a funny roll/hop and got me. Bled for ever.

Stitches were performed by the worst DR I have ever gotten stitches from. He eventually gave up the numbing attempts, after putting the needle all the way through my finger several times and squirting my chest with the drugs, not the finger. He placed three stitches through a non injured part of the finger for every one he actually got through the wound. (not kidding, having his shaky hands put that needle through different parts of my finger up to an inch away from the cut was eye watering to say the least!). He only did 3 stitches before giving up in frustration (normally would expect 6-8 on a cut that size). They tore through the next day.

Oh, wait, we are not telling horror stories here. I won't post the pics.

I will give a tip, though. The Doctors in the ER seem to be much better with stitching wounds, than the family doc was! (the guy who did my thumb later that year, when I severed the nerve and cut a 180 degree arc...........oh right, no horror stories).

I think we have all been there, accidents happen when you are around these sharp knives all the time. And why wouldn't you have one around all the time =)

Ouch! Sorry to hear that bud. Glad you didn't drop your MOAB... the could have lost a few fingers on that grab. :D
