Finally bit the bullet/pulled the trigger on a real Leatherman.
Bought a WINGMAN over at Wally World, on clearance sale.
So far, it is better than the no name's I've tried. Taking the staples out of a microwave box did not break it.
The knife blade can use a little sharpening, but that is not a big deal (presuming I can find where the truck poltergist hid my sharpening stone.)
A belt pouch will be added, I don't trust clips to hold tools.

This is exactly why they made this line of tools is for people who want to get into a first MT or their first "real" multitool.

The Wingman/Sidekick line is actually nice for a budget tool.

The Wingman/Sidekick tools are better than any of the no name tools I see all over the place. For the price they are hard to beat, but I am very partial to the Wave myself.

Congrats. Multitools are addictive as you try to find one with the perfect toolset for your needs. I mainly carry Victorinox knives, but I have quite a few plier based tools as well.

My dad had a Leatherman Supertool which my brother got after dad passed away ... awesome tool and very sharp blades. A year later my brother got me a Leatherman Sidekick for my birthday. It is my first MT, and honestly, I understand and see where they cut costs, and it still works very well. It is an incredibly useful tool and like was mentioned, it gets you into the world of multi-tools for the cost of a fine dinner out somewhere.

I have a couple of the US marked utility knives and a couple SAK's, might be the Wenger versions, not sure, have not seen them in a few years. They are in my camper, in Idaho storage. I need to get a load up that way one of these years.
I EDC a utility knife (along with three others), sometimes that awl and can opener are a real necessity.
The Wingman has joined my CRKT Guppie for EDC. Never go anywhere without them - or the knives.

I started with the Sidekick, before giving it to my little sister after I got a Rebar. Currently I'm thinking about getting the Super Tool 300, which is also currently on clearance at Wal-Mart. The price is really hard to pass up with it being the all black model.
