I got bit.
I was opening and closing the blade, cut off piece of my nail like warm butter.
No serious injuries.
Be safe out there !

Pics of animal and harm inflicted.

I have both models of the Deka, clip point in 20CV and "modified Wharncliffe".
I've stopped carrying the clip point because I've almost sliced the ball of my thumb a half dozen times while opening it. I decided to quit while I was all in one piece. Not a bad knife. It just doesn't work for my particular hand.

On the other hand, the modified Wharncliffe with it's stupidly light weight. slippery, tinny sounding, flexible, thermoplastic handles doesn't get carried either. Intesting blade shape, and I don't have the same near accidents with it, but that handle just sucks little green toads.

Two knives, shot to the nether regions, buried at the bottom of my knife box.

Got to replace scales on that polymer magnacut model ! I agree that handle does suck .

Thought about it, but have not seen any that look balanced.
The clip point, with the original G10, is perfectly balanced, a joy to have in the hand. The Wharnie is blade heavy. All the replacement covers I have seen look heavy. They look as if they would make the knife handle heavy.

I used the micarta replacement scales. They make the knife completely different. Doesn’t feel like it will slide out of your hand like the polymer scales do.

I got some aluminum Original Goat scales and it made me like the DEKA so much better. They really aren't heavy at all but they are slightly bulkier, which I view as a benefit as they provide a more substantial grip that is still slim. I added a Casey Lynch clip as the OEM clips are easy to snap. I don't usually buy knives that require me to spend nearly 100% of the cost to customize in order to be enjoyable, but I didn't mind it for the DEKA.

Agree 100%. I didn't think I was buying a knife kit when I bought the Deka II, but to make it usable, I'm going to need to buy new covers.

Yep. Maybe it's nostalgia after not owning any axis lock knives for 7 years or so, but I really like the knife and am impressed with the Magnacut. That said, I would not carry it with the original scales. Just too flimsy.

My Spyderco PM2 is without a doubt the most perfect knife in my collection. Balance, Fit & Finish, Perfect Centering.

I don't carry it much because I like my Hinderer XM-24 and SHF(L) more. Yes, that's the company it keeps.

My PM2 bit me. The action was so fast and smooth my thumb bounced. Not the PM2's fault. User Error!

I love that knife because it kissed me.

I just love other knives more.

No Spyderco fans were harmed upon reading this post. (haha)
