Without any provocation on my part, the Knife Bug bit me, and now I have another addiction. I guess I knew it was a matter of time (I'm also a gun guy, and there seems to be a lot of crossover), but I resisted for a long while.

I’ve pretty much focused on knives with good value: excellent quality with moderate (or even dirt cheap) prices.

Ka-Bar, Kershaw, Victorinox stamped kitchen knives, and a special emphasis on Buck and Mora.

1095, 420HC, 12C27, S30V.

Smoky Mountain, Knife Country, A.G. Russell, Knife Center, KnifeWorks New Graham, Blade HQ, Ragweedforge, Ben’s Backwoods.

Spyderco Sharpmaker.

A whole new world for me.

Is there a cure for this ? If there is, I don't think I want to know. :cool:

No cure, and I was a gun guy also and still have a nice stash of them, but I've sold some to buy more knives. This knife addiction is much worse and more easily satisfied with lower prices on some. I love seeing boxes from UPS, Fed-ex and USPS, these guys know me by name and laugh when I call them my personal Santa Claus. Welcome aboard the forums and our sickness!

Hello and Welcome. New addictions are always the most exciting :)

Well said:thumbup::D

There will be exciting sub-addictions within the overall addiction -Tactical knives, outdoor knives, EDC knives, traditional knives, custom knives, sharpening equipment, etc.

Welcome to the forums! This is where we embrace and amplify said addictions:D.

Collecting addiction has been known to lead to the deeper addiction of knifemaking and it's sub-addictions of metallurgy, forging and smithing and the buying and hoarding of exotic handle materials. To date there is no cure for any of these addictions. But there is also no research to support any reason as to why anyone would want to be cured.
WELCOME!

Thanks for the warm welcomes !

This forum is a fantastic resource. In just a few days reading I assimilated brands, types, dealers, steels, sharpening ... and I've just barely touched the surface ! The richness of the entire blade experience and technology are what will make this exciting for me. I think there will always be another unexplored avenue to dive into to keep it fascinating ... and addicting. :thumbup:

I was in photography and now can buy 3 or 4 knives for what I would pay for a decent point and shoot camera.I probably sold or traded a lens or camera 2 or 3 times a week, had to sell one to get another and finally had to sell all my gear and go to cheap point and shoot camera. Now the knives have me caught and I love it!

Man I keep buying more and more and more and I just can't seem to ever be satisfied. I is definatly an addiction. I am also a gun addict. For some reason the knife addiction has also hit me alot harder than the gun addiction. Only so many calibers and types I guess. The knife varities are almost endless. Did I say almost? Good luck and buy some more knives. Just wait till you start lusting for customs.
