For those who watch Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods show, his "survival special" appears to be airing again tonight (Monday 5/24) at 10:00pm Eastern.

This is not a PhD level dissertation on survival, but rather is a mildly entertaining peek at a 48 year old flabby guy trying to "survive" for a couple of days in the "jungle". I've seen it before, and think its worth a watch.

Noteworthy is his survival advisor, with the curious name of "Myke Hawk". Make your own joke.

I've heard Myke Hawk's tips really enhance a survival diet.:D

Seriously though I've seen him on another show on jungle survival and he seems to know his stuff. He has a book out as well.

I've also heard Myke Hawk is a hit with the ladies as well.

I went to travelchannel.com and they even have a picture of Mike Hawke. Looks smaller on TV than in real life, at least that's what she said.
 
I think Myke is a pretty cool dude. I love it when Andrew says, "time to get out the old Bic." and Myke just responds with a cold and simple, "negative." lol.
 
I watched the episode the other day where he was in Arizona and the guy used a figure 4 to trap rats out in the desert and then cooked them over and open flame and eat them......
 
That's one of my favorite episodes of Bizzare Foods.

I've never met with him in person but I've emailed with Myke on several occasions. As far as I can tell I really like the guy. He's easy to talk to. He has had an interesting career history in the Special Forces...medic, team commander, survival instructor just to name a few, and has worked in some really interesting areas.
