Hey guys, I saw you conversing about the Brute cutting better with a modified profile.

What have you seen works with the Brute to make it a better cutter?

The Brute was my first Becker purchase and I used it as I got it. But after getting the BK-9, its mostly been collecring dust. But I would really would like to make it a better user and get it out more.

Thanks!

Raising the primary bevel helps a lot.
If you want to keep the mass in play, doing a high convex instead of flat saber works pretty well, too

Idk what the secondary edge is angle wise?
But 15-20 is pretty good.
My knives are around 12ish, but less than 15.

With a big bulky chopper I'd start with 20 degrees per side, then whittle it down slowly until the edge dents, chips, or rolls. Then go up a bit and adjust accordingly.

Should be able to handle 17-18 degrees, I bet

Edit. You can Also thin the bte (behind the edge) probably .020" is the best you are going to get on that chopper with soft steel
