BK-10 next Question ?

As most of you know I have a new to me BK-10 . My question is being the knife I have is a Camillus blank Kabar finished blade , will it fit an off the shelf kidex sheaths off eBay or Amazon ? I know it is a tad thicker blade. Also the pouch type sheath that came with my BK-9 is okay does Kabar sell just sheaths for their knives ?

Today I took it out , cut some branchesoff the peach tree that were in the way mowing. Walked on to the garden picked a butternut squash . Come back in and prepped it for lunch with my BK 10
 
If the blade is thicker, I wouldn't count on an off-the-shelf kydex sheath fitting. Best bet would be to ask the maker.
 
Is it a thicker blade or just the Scales? Camillius used thicker scales :thumbsup: You might need to adjust for missing ramp. Get some KA-BAR scales :) KA-BAR does sell just sheaths.
 
I've got both kabar and camillus, I also do have a pancake style generic kydex. Its made for kabar.
When I get off work, I'll check it out for you.

Now that I get thinking about it, i still have my
BK10LE up in the attic.
Ill pull that down and see what the deal is.

I've got a Camillus BK10, no Kabar. While I know the Cam 9 was thicker than the kabar version, that wasn't universally the case; and I don't think the Cam 10 is actually thicker than the Kabar 10. That is just my thought, and may not be accurate... however, there IS a database thread stuck at the top of this subforum. People went to great effort to compile accurate information there - my recommendation would be to check there.
 
I dug out my calipers the Camillus blank BK 10 measures .189 my new BK 9 measures .19 the BK 9 scales are around .015th thicker

I’m surprised KA-BAR”S coating seems to be getting thinner :p
You’re good to go even your scales must be KA-BARS, get what ever Kydex you like for the 10. You just might have the ramp area to adjust. It might not need any adjustment too :thumbsup:

So the deal is, Those BK 10LE came with Camillus Grivory not KaBar grivory, and a set of KaBar Micarta (scales). The sheath I have is pancake style, I think Trailbum made these once upon a year and sent them to BeckerWest, I may be wrong about the maker.

anyways, He made them on the KaBar pattern knife and my BK10 LE with Camillus Grivory does not work. That very same BK10 LE with the KaBar micarta does work perfectly. It's the scales not the steel.

So, Get yourself a set of KaBar Black Plastic grivory or what ever it's called nowdays or some KaBar Micarta and you'll be fine.
I'd offer you some Kabar scales Gratis, but I only have Blue, Pink or two shades of green. I'm happy to send those if you want.
