Bk-10

I wouldn't hold my breath... at least for the foreseeable future. Ethan said that it wasn't a big seller when he had it produced by Camillus, so he had no plans to reintroduce it right now. In the future? Who knows?

Do not forget that sometime in the future....too long for us knife nuts...that hoepfully some of those prototype knives will make it to production. We saw some pics of them months ago on this site.

I'd get one for sure. I own a Camillus BK 10, but I was able to snatch it up just as Camillus was going out of business and I've never carried it or used it due to the fact that it would be hard to get another one if I damaged or lost mine. I've thought about getting a Ka-Bar made Campanion, but I liked the thinner blade and extended tang ( the way it protruded out beyond the handles to form a pommel to smash and hammer with) of the Crewman. So I keep putting off getting a Campanion because I'm hoping and waiting for a Crewman. I'm not going to be able to wait much longer if I keep watching youtube videos of people using their Campanions.

Give in, melt, and get the BK-2 Campanion — you'll be glad you did. You need more than one Becker, anyway.

Yeah, wish I would have gotten a BK10 too. More functional(thumb ramp and pommel) and not as thick(1/4 is too thick for a 5.25" blade IMO). I would definitely buy a new Crewman!

What's a Becker thread without pics?

oh, i'm sure there's a box or case of them waiting to pop up :) but production again? mmm, slim chance.

I've got a Ka-Bar made BK-9 and one Becker Necker made by Camillus and another Necker made by Ka-Bar. What I want is a Becker in the 5 inch range than is light enough to carry on long hikes, and I think a Crewman would be better than a Campanion because the Crewman would probably be lighter. I did, however, like the Campanion's molded plastic (kydex, maybe?) sheath when I handled one recently. You're probably right. I'll end up getting a Campanion, and the second I mention recently buying one on here, someone at Ka-Bar will hit the "go" button on producing a new Crewman. Then I'll be kicking my own butt. Yep, that's what would happen. That's my luck. You could all have new Ka-Bar made Crewmans (would plural be Crewmen?) tomorrow if I just went and bought a Campanion today. Even then, though, I'm sure I could sell or trade the Campanion off to help purchase a Crewman.

even if KaBar were to sell a crate of BK10s just like they did the BK7EXTREME, they wouldn't last long, and that would be the last of them ;)

now, if you hope over to the sales-forums, or ebay, i'm sure you could locate one of the BK10s floating around.

or you could buy a BK09 combat bowie, and trim it to length :) seriously. cold cutting, shape the tip to what you want.

wait. ooh, that would be the perfect way, maybe, to get a Nessmuk ;) chortle.

but for a serious extended trip, i'd want a powerhouse knife like the BK02 Campanion, minimum, and probably something else like a good scandi/mora or "bushcrafter" with that's scary sharp. remember: 2 is 1, 1 is none.

I'm with Bladite: for serious get-down-to-it bush trips, the BK-2 Campanion is the way to go. It's one of the most versatile knives of its size around, and it won't break the bank. I think you're pretty safe here, melt: if Ka-Bar starts producing the BK-10 within two months, I'll buy your BK-2 from you.

I think the BK-2 is a must have knife. I'd like to try one of the new Condor Bushlore's with it for a smaller little blade, since Ethan has ignored my begging, pleading and whining (and some gratuitous whimpering thrown in, too) for a 4 inch Becker.

Hmmmmmmmmm......along the lines of Bladite's idea, maybe I could get a Campanion and have it thinned down to the thickness of the Crewman? But that would remove the blade stamp. Nah, that'd be too much work. I'll get a Campanion eventually. And I'm sure I'll love it. I just wish I had a Ka-Bar made Crewman so I would not be as tempted to take my unused Camillus one out and baton it through some helpless oak.

I've had both, and prefer the slimmer Crew for extended hikes. I sold the Camp.

Going through my knife safe a month or so ago, I found a second new-in-the-box Becker BK-10. With it, a new Swamp Rat Bandicoot and I have no idea where either of these knives come from (had to be in with a large trade deal of some sort). I try to keep my personal inventory list accurate when possible but I evidently slipped on these two.

The BK-10 (this one anyway) has a 5-1/2" blade, about 1-5/8" wide, and it has a 3/16" spine. The OAL is close to 11". These knives cut real well and are easy to maintain because of the thinner 3/16" stock. Myself, I prefer the BK-10 over the BK-2 because of its lighter weight (doesn't feel like a boat anchor). If one could possibly damage the BK-10, I would suggest they look at something other than cutlery to serve their needs. :)

I did a mini-review on a private forum on one of the new Condor's - shown here with the recently found BK-10 for size comparison.

I'm interested in the new Condors myself. What did you think of the Condor compared to the BK-2 (not the BK-10, but the BK-2)?

that condor is almost a clone :) looks interesting. stainless? some of their bushcrafting knives look like real good value.

iirc, there's a german knife company making knives that might as well be Beckers... i think one of them is a BK10 like knife.

still, i'd rather have me a Becker.
