I tried this one over in general discussion , so I will tryhere:

There is probably alot of this discussion on the Becker forum here. My question, what was the steel used in the Camillus BK11 and what is the steel in the Kabar version?

The steel in the Camillus was 0170-6C whereas Ka-Bar uses 1095 Cro-Van. The difference between the two that Ethan mentioned was IIRC the increased toughness of 1095 with a little, little loss in edge retention. According to him, it would be difficult for the average knife person (like me) to notice this difference.
Hope this helps.
