Or at least that is what a member of another forum stated. He claimed It would not even cut paper just ripped it, like trying to cut paper with a hammer. Worst it was impossible to sharpen. He had done everything he could but it would not take a decent edge. It was such a useless POS that he would give it away to anyone who wanted it. Having a 1095 BK11, I jumped on it.
When it arrived I immediately saw the poster was right I have sharper pry bars. Not surprisingly that had nothing to do with the knife's design or manufacture. Rarely have I seen a better example of operator error. The tip had been blunted one side of the blade looked as if there was an attempt to convex the blade instead he achieved a rounded off blunt edge the other had been sharpened at different angles. A perfect example of how not to sharpen a knife or how to ruin a perfectly good knife. Not a big deal, I'll be able to quickly put an excellent edge on it with my Edge Pro. Which brings me to my real question, I know the blade is 420 stainless with a SK5 carbon steel core. It appears to have a hamon. Is that cosmetic or is the blade differentially heat treated (tempered). Am I going to run into problems if my edge goes past the hamon line?
