Hey everybody, I was a little bored and had some free time on my hands so I decided to personalize my Eskabar.

Before:
I cord wrapped the handle a while ago and other than that this knife was stock off the shelf

After:
I ditched the paracord wrap, stripped the coating, forced a patina, and re-wraped with leather, then oiled it all up. (and made a leather sheath out of some scraps I had untill I can get some better leather and give it a proper sheath)

Overall took me about 8 hours or so actual work time and I think it gives it a very distinct but functional look

How do you like the leather wrap as opposed to the para-cord?

I like the mods, gives it an old school traditional look.

Dude that looks awesome. like you dug it up from a civil war soldier. nicely done my man

The leather wrap is a really nice look on the BK14! How does it do as far as function?

Thanks for the compliments guys,

I like the feel of the leather wrap better than the paracord, gives a good organic feel, obviously not as utilitarian as the 550 but the length of cord wrap there is shorter than my boot laces (which I would probably use first if I needed cordage). Of course the leather wont be as weather resistant, but the 550 was just too slim in my hand, and the poly sheath killed the edge and trapped moisture. And I'm really starting to dig the patina (first forced patina I did and it turned out decent if I say so myself) the coating they put on the Eskabar isn't quite as durable as the coating on the Izula's and it was wearing pretty thin from all the kindling I split with this, plus the patina is only going to get more character as it ages. I'd say the esk'y made the transition from tactical necker to traditional pretty well.
