Been looking for days on this topic, but i would like people to chime in. I know the Bk14 has more blade, less cost, but a sheath that blows. Izula 2 is a little bit more but has scales, ok sheath, and the kit.
What do you recommend and does the bk14 and the izula 2 have the same handle length? / Yes i know this is the becker sub-fourm so i'll prolly get more bk14 answers

Thanks

I had a BK14 and gifted it to a friend recently. Not because I didn't like it, only because I wanted my friend to have a quality knife. It's a great size blade and the Kabar zytel handles make all the difference in the world. It has the same handle from the original Izula, but given the choice I'd easily pick the BK14.

That being said, the Izula II is my favorite small knife I have right now. The handle is 1/2" longer, which doesn't sound like much, but is sooo much better in my hands. Also, the micarta scales extend the full length of the handle (unlike the Izula, but just like the BK14 zytel). The blade shape and slight downward angle of the handle make it very functional. I carry mine in my briefcase every day and often times carry it ITW using the boot clip (I recommend getting the kit for this reason). Even a thin t-shirt conceals it very well this way and is pretty comfortable.

Either way I don't think you can go wrong. They are both quality blades imo.

I just bought my brother a BK-14 setup for his birthday. The knife, factory scales (two sets, red and orange), and an AZWelke sheath with small Tek Lok. This setup is exactly the same as mine, and is exactly how I want it.

Total cost w/ shipping: $84.00

Cost for an Izula II with clip plate for the sheath: $87.00

Looks like sixes either way, but with the 14 you can get it just the way you want it. If you want to carry it in leather instead of plastic, Skystorm makes several sheaths that are pretty much the same price as a kydex rig w/tek lok. If you want micarta scales, Saint Cutlery makes some nice ones, and Tommythewho does some kickass wooden scales for the little Beckers.

Obviously I'm an Eskabar fan, but you can't go wrong either way.

And the obligatory pic of what I'm talking about.

Thanks a bunch ccmi and dan. On TKC website the izula 2 with the whole set is around 60-70 I believe, I really love the longer handle because my hands are Chubby and big. And I think I'll have to spend close to the izulas price if I get a off mArket sheath for the bk14.

Does the bk14 sheath still dulling the blade? I'm using the knife for Edc and self defense

The Izzy2 is a very nice package, but I'm surprised it doesn't hold its edge longer (don't think it's a sheath issue). I suspect Kabar's steel chemistry is superior.

I say get the 14 and make the package how you like it aftermarket. But if you do not like doing that, then the izula 2 is a nice just buy and go setup.

Alright thanks guys for all your inputs, Think i'll go with the Bk14 since i can't afford an izula2 right now.

If you are good you can make yourself a set of longer scales for the BK-14 if you prefer the longer grip of the Izula II and just fill in the gap with epoxy or make a piece to fit inside. Best of both worlds I suppose.

The 14 is perfect....and the sheath? It's great! It's way better than a mora sheath and it's tough and you can do many things to it to work how you want it to...don't choose a gd knife because of the sheath...choose a knife because of the knife.
