I did some research before I posted the question here and found that some have complained that the sheath actually dull's the knife, is this true and if so what is a good after market sheath for it? Also, any other color's of zytel handles available? I sure would like a tan set to match my 16.

They sheaths have been changed. There are some good aftermarket makers on here. Depends on if you're looking for Kydex or leather.

Kydex makers- Azwelke, Godspeed, 710.
Leather Benders- Skystorm, Sagewood, Psyop, Mauser.

Zytel comes in black or orange. If you want it to match your 16 you're gonna have to go with the black. Or some RIT dye.

That all being said, if you had been doing all that research into the Eskabar, you should have come across the answers to these questions NUMEROUS times.

^^^ What he said!! :D

I have several 14's and have never experienced this but have heard of it. I think this was a problem with sheaths a few years ago but Kabar changed the material they were made from and eliminated the issue.

As for aftermarket sheaths, there are a lot of options. I have a kydex sheath by The710 & his work is excellent.

Zytel only comes in black and orange as far as I know.

Welcome to the Becker wing of the nut house!

I have never had any sheath dulling issues with my 11 or 14's.
My stock sheaths did loosen up a bit and caused some rattling.
That's the only reason I got aftermarket sheaths.
If I remember correctly, my stock sheaths lated about 4-6 months before they developed a rattle.
However, depending on how much you use them, they may last longer. I used mine alot.
I can highly reccomend Azwelke's Kydex.
But both GODSPEED and the 710 make some good looking stuff too and are on my "to buy" list.

I never had any dulling with the stock sheath, but I didnt drag the edge when taking it in and out.

After about a year, I finally gave up on my BK-11 sheath "breaking in" so the dulling would stop. The issue did get a little bit better over the course of a year but not enough.

Bought an Azwelke sheath for it late last night.

I just found out Al and my-self both live in the valley, I guess I should support my local business's.

Al does good work, I have a Scrapyard dagger that he made the sheath for that I absolutely love.

He doesn't quite live in the valley.. he lives in New River... just a little north, but close enough. :)

Godspeed is closer to you, he's down near Queen Creek. I've got sheaths from both of them. Great stuff either way.

I am new to all of this and did just realize Godspeed was just down the road. I actually just purchased a 710 sheath that he is making just the way I want it. OD neck sheath with a firesteel loop. Great price plus he will have it finished and shipped later this week.

The sheath dulled my 11 like crazy. I just ordered a 14 and expect the same but I make my own lysed sheaths anyways.
