BK-14 sheath ?

I. could. not. get. past. 12. seconds. of. the. video.

I tried fixing my sheath so it wouldn't dull the edge but I couldn't get it. I might try again but I suspect I'll have to order a kydex sheath for it.
 
Wako has some great videos, I have the same problem with mine. All things considering though it's still a hell of a deal for that knife. I love mine and have not once regret getting it. It's my understanding that ka-bar recently lowered the glass content in them and that fixed the problem. Not sure what thread I read it in.

This guy says the Esky is Norwegian, did I hear that wrong? Interesting otherwise.

From what I understand if it's "old" it's got glass in it. Everything shipping from the factory now, has no glass. You could get "old" stock from a dealer though... hard to tell. From your first post... I hope they don't switch over to kydex..... I'm positive they won't and since I make kydex sheaths I've got a selfish reason for that too;) Once you get a kydex sheath you won't look back though.

tap it, or drop it onto a counter and listen. does it sound hollow and kind of almost brittle? probably glass filled.

dull sound? probably plastic

you could try a cut test. the glass stuff is harder...
 
i think it already is. call KaBar on Monday?

course, you might be better off just buying a custom kydex :)
 
I found a leather sheath here on the forums, and I like it. After carrying the knife clipped to my belt for a few days I realized that I preffer the kydex sheath in my front pocket much better.

I believe that that is a new one; the old ones are tanto shaped aren't they?

I have a tanto style sheath and the dulling was so bad that I got an kydex one made for me by Azwelke.

Now I'm confused. I have the sheath that is shaped like the blade, not tanto. I just took my BK11 and ran it across Kydex and it cut paper. Stropped it and ran it across the ESEE sheath and it cut paper. Stropped again and ran it across the Becker sheath...won't cut paper.

I never liked the sheath as I wear it as a necker and feel that it felt like a badge under my shirt. Azwelke's are slimmer and rest nicely between my pecs. :D
 
The problem for me is I don't wear a belt so I can't use a loop or tek lock. I need the metal clip to attach the knife to work scrubs which I bought the TDI clip for this sheath. I don't think Al makes anything with a metal clip does he?
