I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their 14's sheath.......I use mine as a neck knife.....well, at least I used too. I've resorted to using my Scrapyard Scrapivore as my necker EDC. I love my Scrapers.....but I'm a Beckerhead, and need my 14 back in place!

The 14 fits perfect, but just the slightest ever of a pull and the knife slips right out. I'm afraid that using it as a necker (where it belongs on me), it could easily fall out under my shirt just doing daily activities. Not good. I love the sheath and really don't want to get another one. I've considered getting the TDI clip for it, but I want it as a necker..

I can see in the mouth of the sheath there are two very thin protrusions on each side that are responsible for holding the knife in place. I'm considering boiling some water and dipping the mouth of the sheath then squeezing it together.......any suggestion?

making a kydex sheath for a 14 is quite easy, but if you want to keep the stock sheath you may try what you said or heat up the "mouth" with a hot air gun and press both sides in with a rag while the knife is in the sheath.

I would like to know as well, when I carry my EsKabar as a neck knife I carry it handle up. I'd like to carry it with the handle down, but when I tried it fell out. It works fine with the handle up, but I have to weigh the sheath with a survival kit so the knife doesn't flop around, lol. I'll probably just get another Azwelke sheath, I can shake The Skunk's sheath all day and I know it won't budge.

Yep......handle down all the way. It's the most convenient way to EDC in my opinion.......as long as it's safe......which right now, mine is not. Otherwise...what's the point. Handle up is just a pain. Might as well hip carry.

I think that's what I'm going to have to try. May do that shortly and will post how it turns out unless someone way smarter than me (most people) comes up with a better solution.

When I was carrying an 11 tip up in the stock sheath I ran a piece of paracord down with a toggle that kept it in place. Later I swapped that out for two rare-earth magnets that I used to make sure it didn't slip out.

Thanks for the responses guys. I went ahead and boiled the mouth for several seconds, then squeezed it shut for several seconds more. The retention is much, much tighter now. I feel confident to wear it as a necker again........at least for now. Still I wonder though, for those who have the 14 and stock sheath......will those little plastic protrusions hold up under repeated removal of the 14? I guess time will tell. It certainly feels much more secure for now anyway.

I attempted to boil and reshape mine as well without much success. It seems like the Eskabar sheath material is a little thicker than they are for the other models.
What i'm thinking about doing is building up the retention "nubs" with a bit of epoxy. Just lay on a layer at a time to see if it will work. I've had my Eskabar for a few years now and that seems to be the only place wearing down on the sheath. I'll give this a try and will report back.
