BK-15,16,17 Handle Scales- Anyone have an extra set?

Hey everyone,

I would like BK-16 but do not have the money right now for one. So I am thinking of trying to make a knife similar in size as the 16 until I can save some money to buy one.

I was wondering since the 15, 16, & 17 all come with two handle scale sets, if there was anyone out there that had an extra set they might be willing to let go for a small fee.

I am thinking if I could get a set of these handle scales that I could make a simple file knife that would work for me until I have the extra cash. I just want something smaller then my BK-17 for daily carry around the farm.

Thanks a lot,
Greebe

I've got tons of scales.

And man, the 16 and 17 are identical shapes. The 17 was originally a clipped 16, Then they started making the 16 full flat grind instead of saber grind.

So I am guessing you mean BK-7 not BK-17?

Anyway, I can send you a set if you need.

You could always make a set of scales if you have the skill set to make a knife... Wood is a lot easier to work than metal.

Happy to send a tweener set along. Black, brown, or one of each?

Once you make the knife to fit the scales, you could make some scales to fit the knife...

Thanks guys for th offers. Yep I am looking for a bk-16 set. I just added all the models using the same handle scales as I figured that way if someone had a set and did not know about compatibility I would get their attention as well.

I have heard a lot about how great these tweeners fit the hand so I though I would use them as the handle scales to make a correct handle. That would be a big help. I will send you guys a PM and see what we can work out.

Thanks a lot,
Greebe

Hey, I was going to send you a email but it does not looks like you have it set up to do that. If you could drop me a line I would appreciate it.

Be sure and post pics when you get your file knife going!

I'm happy to see you guys help Greebe out. Hes a nice guy that's going to fit in great around here. He has a 3 year old kid and a 4 month old baby and as many of us know little ones are expensive. Not a fun time to convince the wife you need a new Becker. He has a BK7 but wants a worthy companion to it for an exciting summer trip coming up. So hes decided to try to make his own for now.

Sounds like you guys have him on the right track. Thanks

Thank you very much for doing this. I will keep an eye out for them. I think this will be a fun project. I don't have much time before our move so I will have to get working on it soon after they get here. My 2.5 year long belt grinder saga is almost finished. I have had most of the parts sitting around all this time but have not had the chance to work on it until recently again. I hope to get the grinder finished this week and then use it to make this knife. Here is my belt grinder build. I am going to get some more pictures posted today.
