I thought I made up my mind on the BK16 but watched a few reviews that mentioned that the 15 cuts better than the 16. The BK16 looks like an all around stronger blade to me but not sure about the cutting ability. It would be my first stout fixed knife purchase and I would be using it for camping, short hikes, or just keeping it around for general around the property use.

For the use you are describing I would take my 16. My 15 gets more use in the kitchen, though.

I agree. 16 for general purpose/bushcraft and 15 for fighting/kitchen/pure skinning. The 15 will wear out batons faster than the 16. They both cut just fine... you really can't go far wrong with either. Screw it, get both :)

A little birdie told me when the current stock of 15's is sold, they're not making any more. That may be a factor, too.

Like not making more ever? Or just for a while?

Ever. They just don't sell quick enough to justify more production runs. That is not an official company statement, just something I heard from... someone. So take it with a grain of salt.

Sounds good and I'm going to go with the 16. The 14 looks intriguing also so might have to grab one of those also.

A wise choice. When in doubt get both Beckers! I edc my 14 or 24 as often as possible but the 16 goes woods bumming etc.

Please post pics when you get em.
Congrats and welcome!

I got the BK16, and then I later picked up a BK15. I like both. I tend to favor a saber or clip point in general, so I am very comfortable with the BK15. I suspect you'll eventually get both and then you won't be able to decide what to take with you in the woods. I guess the next one will be a BK17.

I prefer the BK24 over the BK14. I have always liked Bob Dozier's D2 and got the BK24 as a result. Harder to sharpen than the BK14, but not bad. I have a BK14 too by the way.

It occurred to me after I posted this that Mr. Helm would probably really like a BK15 for his applications.

get the 14. and the 15. and the 16. get them all.

How many licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop ...
Get all 3. :D

The scare tactic convinced me to get the BK5 when I did. It can be hard to find discontinued models. I still need a 16
and a 24 and an 11 and .....

I certainly wouldn't be concerned about the cutting ability of the 16. It's a cutter.

If I had either this would likely be my set up, though they both Can play both roles, they seem to be a little more suited towards one or the other primarily.

Well, If you are only getting one, I say go for the 16. The 15 is great but the 16 is more versatile in my opinion.

But honestly, I say get both if you can because they are both excellent knives. And I agree the 15 is a great kitchen knife.

I also heard from someone that production has stopped on the 5 and 15. But there are plenty in stock so they will be available for many more years.
