Here's the thing

I lost one of the nuts for my BK-16 as it came loose. After that - I went with whatever I found from hardware store and loctited the scales together. Now I would like to take it apart, buy micarta scales, uncoat the blade and give it some sort of own finish but there are no spare bolts and nuts to be found. Ka-Bar refused to send them for overseas guy.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

ps + edit: I am not looking for anything for free. I am willing to compensate for the trouble.

Surely they must have something in hardware stores? I'd think you could replace the hardware entirely with something. As long as it fits through the holes, you should be able to make it work.

I work at a hardware store and I'm at work right now. In a bit I'll find out the metric sizes you need and post them here.

Yes, I have found some screws but it kind of ruins the looks. Silver philips screw just doesnt look that good. :P I know it sounds vain, but I would like the knife to also look good. Don't get me wrong, my bk is strictly user.

You can easily find them on the internet though. On the bay, for example. Plus, you can get them in stainless .

I didn't find out anything at work about what metric sizes are comparable, sorry, but are the bk16 screws the same as the bk14 screws? And are you looking for stainless or for the black stock screws?

According to an ebay auction that has a set of socket head screws for sale (For the full-size handles)

Overall length of screws .794in.
Length of threads on screws - 5/8 inch
Screw size is 10/32 x 5/8
Nut size is - 10-32
Nut Width (flat to flat) - 3/8 inch
Nut thickness (low profile nylon lock nuts) - 3/16 inch

According to a chart I have, 10/32 x 5/9 = M5 x .8 Metric Coarse
My chart does not have a "Metric Fine" equivalent for this size screw.

Using 1 inch = 2.54 cm or 25.4 mm, we get the following conversions-
Overall length -- 0.794 inch = 20.1676 mm
Thread length -- 5/8 inch = 0.625 inches = 15.875 mm
Nut Size (flat to flat) -- 3/8 inch = 0.375 inches = 9.525 mm
Nut Thickness -- 3/16 inch = 0.1875 inches = 4.7625 mm

Disclaimers :D:D:D -
I am NOT a machinist, so I may not have a clue as to what I am talking about...
Again, the overall length is for US measurement SOCKET HEADED screws.
Any other type of screw will be different in length based on head type.
If European socket head screws or Torx-head screws are available/used, the appropriate sized Torx/Allen (hex-head) wrench should be used.
I accept no responsibility what-so-ever if an M5x.8 is wrong. :D

Sorry for late reply but I would really like the stock screws. I wonder why they jus could't supply the hardware with new scales?
