BK-16 Clip or Drop?

I kept wondering where he'd seen a bk16 with a clip point
Antdog must have got it, The OP must be confusing the 16 and 17 as the same knife.
Or if a Mod I want/need to see it. Beckers are at the top of my want list now for knives.

You know I thought the BK16 came in either a Clip or Drop point. One of the websites didn't list it as a BK17 or 16 just that it was a Kabar Clip.
After looking back and forth I like the BK16 Drop alot and will go with that.

The BK16 is the drop point and is full flat ground. The BK17 has a clip point. KaBar doesn't make a BK16 with a clip point. No need - that's the BK17! You would probably like either one. It just depends on your preference of blade style.

Hey truth-seeker: did you try those liners out on your BK2? Do they fit ok?

I love my BK16. I want to get the 15 and 17 eventually, but the 16 is a "kephart" style belt knife sorta deal, whereas the other two look really stabby. The contours of the handles are so comfortable. If you aren't going to get aftermarket handles, I would suggest stippling either the black or brown scales that come with it.

What I mean by that is to use a wood burning tool or soldering iron to quickly tap the entire surface of the handles, like a tattoo. The result will look almost like pumice stone and will be very grippy even in wet/slick conditions. You could even do it in different patterns.

I had to make the same decision a while back. 5 years ago, there is no question I would have chosen the BK-17 with the clip point because the blade has what I considered the classic fixed blade shape. But I chose the drop point BK-16 and I'm glad I did. The design does make the point a bit stronger. I do have a BK-15 that gives me the clip point on a slightly differently styled knife which I like too. Eventually, you'll buy one of each. Just prepare yourself.

The BK-16 will do 98% of everything a normal person might want to use a knife for in the outdoors (except chopping). I like the factory handle shape too, but there are higher grade handles available. The BK-16 is just really handy. The blade length is easily controlled when cutting and it takes a great edge.
