BK 16 Pommel

Anybody know why the BK16 pommel (right word?) is angled off towards the blade vs being straight like the Crewman? Whats the purpose? Wouldn't the straight, flat pommel be easier to strike?
 
my 2 is. The knife pommel isn't meant as a striker. It's just a nice way to finish the pommel and leave a lanyard hole. The much beefier bk2 serves as a much better striker. A square flat .25" pommel w/a handle that locks better into the hand.
