Looking for a good Kydex sheath for my BK16. Just seeing what others use, and what is recommended. I'm mainly interested in a smaller taco style with scout carry options - I have a ESEE 4 with TKC scales in a Azwelke sheath and its a nice package, but I'm pretty set on switching to the BK16.

I have the 'upgraded' factory (micarta) scales for my BK16 and really like them, and have no experience with the TKC scales for the BK16. Anyone have these? Are the TKC scales a good upgrade? Pics of different sheaths/handles would be awesome.

The TKC scales are very nice and give the blade a slightly different feel. The thumb scallops are pretty nice to have sometimes. My favorite is the dogwood firefly. Followed by TKC, Tommy the who, and then the factory micarta.

If your going by thickness the wood tommy the who scales are the thickest. Then the dogwood/factory micarta. The stock/TKC handles are the thinnest.

If you want kydex for your sheath Azwelke is probably the best and your going to pay more for it. 710/diez knives makes very fine sheaths. I probably have more from him then anyone else. The carbon fiber sheath is from valhalla. They sell a lot of becker sheaths on ebay for cheap prices. I have another valhalla sheath on my bk10 they work fine for the price and get the job done, but its not on the same level as azwelke and 710. I added my own leather backer to that sheath, but I think he also sells them with belt attachments for slightly more money.

If you want leather I have one leather scout sheath I got in trade. I don't know who makes/sells it but they sell them on ebay still for a lot of different blades. Its excellent quality and fit. JRE makes all the leather sheaths for LT Wright and other maker. I have two of them in different sizes and they are very nice. Very simple and cost effective.

Dang, what are you, some kinda knife junkie?

I haven't even tried factory micarta yet, or dogwood.
I, too, like the thumb dimples in the TKC scales. They feel great in hand, and sleek & easy to carry. But my hands are kinda large (XL gloves), so I always add liners.

Here's the Azwelke taco vs my modded factory nylon sheath, with a pair of 16's.

Fancy custom leather from Rick Lowe for my Fiddleback and Rainwalker for my Bussekin both hold onto the 16 okay:

JRE Custom leather for an Enzo trapper is a nice getup, too.
