BK-18 regrind?

I did that on my bk17, straightened out the clip and sharpened the swedge enough to strike a ferro rod.
I didn't bring it to an apex.
I went through a phase where I felt every knife had to be ferro rod compatible, I got past it.

What did you use to do it? I am wanting to take it all the way to an apexed cutting edge

I used a KME sharpener, I didnt note in my sharpening log book what degree, but I guess that won't matter to you.

Get a new file (with a handle!). Remove the scales and clamp the blade in a vise w/ some leather or something as a cushion. You can start with an obtuse angle, and then make it more acute (moving downward to where the swedge meets the rest of the knife) as much as suits you. BK blades are soft enough to file on. It's work, and you might toss the file when you're done, but I think it will get you there.

Why do you want it sharp?
Makes it rather dangerous to the user.

Yeah, I'm curious too. It is plenty stabby stock. Check your local & State laws on that. It might be considered a dagger if you sharpen the swedge.

Anyways, if that's what you want, do it. Nothing better than a knife exactly the way you want.

Guess the time away took a toll on my memory 😕. I'd definitely seen Ethan's announcement thread...so I must have disregarded subsequent postings about it since I chose not to purchase.
Seeing it again, now, I do appreciate it a bit more (my distaste for harpoon blades seems to have mellowed somewhat).
Thank you both for the info:thumbsup:

Yeah, time flies.

We should all just try to put some money aside every month for our knife addiction. Because you are simply NEVER REALLY DONE buying new knives, especially BK&T knives. Lol
