My long-awaited Backcountry Boiler (Supreme) finally arrived last week. Took it out today for its second burn and grabbed some pics in the process.

Boiler in its sack.

Out for show.

I took all of a minute grabbing this handful of sticks out of my yard. More than enough fuel for a burn.

Used the 2 to prepare some fatwood shavings for a clean ignition.

Within 4.5 minutes, I had bubbles. Within 6.5 minutes, I had a rolling boil that was actually boiling over.

I'm exceptionally pleased with performance.
With a little fatwood and a handful of found fuel, you can get 2 cups of cold water to boil in under 5 minutes.
The stopper functions well, so you can carry in your water for a hot drink on a hike.

I'm still getting the inside of the boiler clean though. The vessel contained some metal shavings from the etching process, and the directions called for hot water rinses and a dump of the first boil.
However, as you can see in some of the pics, little shavings are floating to the surface even on the second boil. Third boil (later)? Not so much.
Still, I'm going to give it 5 or 6 more burns and examine the water in a clear glass at that point, just to be sure I'm not getting any extra minerals.

Great product. It was a long time coming, but it was worth the wait.
I'm also supposed to have a "Firefelt" on the way.
Basically a fireproof fabric you can soak in denatured alcohol and use whenever no sticks or twigs are handy.

What's your go to blade Guyon?

I'll admit I'm surprised to see your bk2 still has its coating.

That's because I don't strip 'em as soon as I get 'em. :D
Go-to is whatever I grab. If I had a 16, that'd probably be my go-to.

Only Becker I've stripped is a Camillus 2.

The Biscuit has exquisite taste in steel, even his "out the door" choice will be a great blade.

B, that boiler looks good.

You gonna try to get a bottle carrier to tote it in, or will if if fit?

Awesome, so the water is actually in a sleeve around the center chimney? Ingenious way to maximize surface area.

Moose, it's just a little wide for a 10x4, but I have a 12x5 it can fit into along with some other stuff.

Man, Guyon, you always have the neatest gear! Thanks for posting this, I've never even heard of anything like this before.

I think I will have to check that out. I been wanting to build a kit on a 12x5. Danke, mein brudda.

Devin Montgomery designed it based on some really old chimney stove models. He basically took extant design and tweaked it nicely for a backpacking stove.
It all started in an old Backpacking Light thread back in 2009. You can read about his design here here: http://www.theboilerwerks.com/about/
I got in on a Kickstarter Project (linked) he used to fund his latest round of stove offerings. It was an up-and-down experience for him, but he came through with a good product.

Sadly, a British company ripped off his design and started putting out the "M-Kettle" (even the name is a rip-off of Devin's last name) in stainless.
That whole fiasco is pretty well documented somewhere on the web.

I used to have one of the kelly kettles but I found it was too bulky to pack around. Volcano stoves do work good though.

This one is no bigger than a Jetboil, the advantage being you don't have to buy or tote fuel canisters.
And unlike a Jetboil, you can carry the water right in the stove.

Get a little altoids tin with legs and you can fry individual peices of spam for a snack :-) That things looks pretty cool.

I bet that Fatwood caused all that resin in your stove, fatwood burns dirty...

Cool set-up bro and sweet blade.

It got pretty dirty on the first burn, and I just used twigs/sticks.
Directions say to clean with oven cleaner if you're the tidy type. I figure it's just going to get dirty again.
