This is a simple mod where i just wanted my Campanion blade to be more like a Crewman.
An abrupt drop to a more centered point was what i was after. I was pleased with how it turned out so I thought there might be some interest.
I used a bench grinder (fine stone) with frequent water dunks and finished up with some file work and sanding.
The reduction in blade length was minimal, about an 1/8".

The more I look at that the jealouser I become that is really awesome and I wish Ethan and kabar would turn that into the new bk

even doing a short sprint run would be a major undertaking, they just have so many other projects going on, that it would be a long time time down the pipe. nothing should be getting in the way of the new MachAx for instance ;) and a dozen other new designs i'm sure too ;)

now if one were willing to pay $$$ for custom mods like that, it would probably be worth lining up a modder, signing people up, getting a bulk discount on a base model, and doing it...

Tell me more about the pocket sheath you attached to your exsisting sheath, please :)

Looks good.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I thought people might find the mod interesting.
Do you convex the edge a bit, or is that my eyes playing tricks?
I did convex the edge and softened the edge of the saber grind. The one thing I don't like about saber grinds vs. flat grinds is the increased friction while batoning.

The gear pouch is from a Spec-Ops combat sheath that got damaged. I salvaged the pouch and put it on the BK-2 sheath.

More mods:
After removing the small amount of steel from the tip the handle heaviness was more noticeable .
To minimize this I drilled two pairs of 1/2" holes between the grip screws, four total. I finished up with a Dremel and after sanding painted the area with black epoxy paint.
The space is just right for a couple of Vaseline saturated cotton balls for fire starting. Grip contents are accessible with a 5/32" Allen kept in the gear pouch.
After doing this the balance point is just behind the front grip screw. Total weight with grips and mounting hardware is 14 3/4 ounces.

Nice work! I just ordered another BK7 to cut down to the crewman. Should be fun. :D

I have one already and knife mods are not that difficult. Maybe I'll just forge one of my own in my shop. Either way it will be fun. Feel bad if you wish. :D

Looks great! Did you paint your sheath foilage green? if so what kind of paint did you use because i want to do that as well. I was making a stuntman mike jacket for halloween and was using some silver fabric spray and..well...i now have some silver sparkles on my sheath :( tried using some fingernail polish remover and it didnt work..so my next thing is a paint mod...then stippling the grip!

Thank you Mr. Becker. I'm really looking foreword to the new Campanion and the changes you've made to it. I tried to duplicate the skeletonized handle of the new Campanion and like the change in weight and balance. The change is subtle, but I agree that it's a positive improvement with no loss of strength.
Thank you for making such fine products.

Yes I did. I used Krylon Fusion Camouflage Olive green #4293. It holds up well, even on the webbing. The webbing takes on a green tint with no loss of flexibility, just don't over apply. I was going to use Duracoat but decided to keep it simple. The Krylon has held up fine.
