Hello, everyone. This is the first thread that I've started in the Becker forum. I really appreciate the wealth of information compiled here, so I decided to post a picture of a mod that I recently completed. I got the "how-to" and the inspiration from several great threads that I found using the search function.

I used the gun-blue-and-bleach method to etch the flats, sanded the primary bevel smooth, gave it a vinegar patina and put a convex edge on it with my Work Sharp. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I might do something with the handle scales at some point, but for now, I'm fine with the grivory.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Looks great! I'm not familiar with the gun blue and bleach method, what is it?

It's an etching technique that makes use of gun bluing solution and bleach. You apply a gun bluing solution used for cold bluing firearms, such as Birchwood Casey Super Blue, and then wet it with bleach. The bleach and the solution react, causing the metal to rust/etch as they do. There are some great threads on this forum that teach how to do it. There are also some excellent videos on You Tube that teach it as well.

Cool thanks.
I know I probably could have looked that up, but it annoys me when I'm trying to find a definition for something and all the threads that google shows me are people just praising said item or action or method.
So in the interest of being one more thread that explains to somebody who doesn't know, I asked.

Congrats on an excellent first post & an awesome BK2!
I found the thread explaining the process. It was introduced to this forum by Clich and became known as cliching. As in "I'm cliching by BK9" or "I cliched my BK2".

Yes, that's the main thread from this forum that I used. I also found a very informative YouTube video by PreparedMind101 that proved to be very helpful. Here's the link.

Great looking 2. I happen to love the stock scales. Throw some stainless hardware on 'em and your good to go.
