So I need a little help. I like both of these knives and the price difference doesn't bother me. what I would like is to hear from those that have one or both of these knives and tell me what you think of them. Give me any input that would help make this decision... and NO, I cannot get them both. I need other things for my kit and the wife just wouldn't understand.... so un;ess I want to build my shelter outside and sleep there for a while...just one knife for now.

Both are excellent knives, I would but whichever you can get the best deal on.

The BK2 is a sweet knife but I don`t carry mine much as I can just carry my SOD as it weighs less and is more capable .I would get the RD6 or the ESEE 6 as they are more knife for the money ,please don`t get me wrong the BK2 is a great knife but it has a super thick edge and is built like a tank . When was the last time you saw someone cutting something with a tank.

Does a Boker Leo Damascus line folder count? (blade made from Leopard Tank barrels) :D

I like my bk2. I got rid of one and then quickly (same week) replaced it w/ another.

My vote goes to the BK-2. Yeah, it is thick and built like a tank. Some people who haven't used one seem to think that's a bad thing: it's not; it's a very good thing.

There's a good reason that the BK-2 has been as popular as has been for around thirty years: it's an outstanding knife.

I have a RD6 from Justin and it is a great knife. I have never been disappointed in it in any way.

I have and LOVE both

The RD-6 is a better Chopper and the BK-2 is easier to control

Both are very well made and will outlast both of us..

I say get both and re-sell the one you like least.

Or get one now--and the other later on

That's the only way to determine which one will work better for you.

You must test each one yourself to see -

I can't vouch for the RD6,but certainly can for the BK2.It is an awesome knife and is a more than capable cutter, mine is hair splitting sharp. Also makes a great SHTF knife.

yeah... get both.. and you can have a contest for the one you don't like... :D

how wide are your hands?
if you get the BK2, can you also afford the $40 micarta scales?
I have very wide/large hands and the stock grips on the BK series don't fit me.
OTOH, I have no experience with the RD6, so i can't comment on the comfort there.

Unless you are seeking a sharpened prybar, I'd choose the ESEE-6 over either. It's lighter and cuts very well. But if you like those thick, heavier style camp knives, the ESEE-5 is worth a look. It's designed for AF SERE instructors and comes with a micarta handle and nice sheath. There's certainly nothing wrong with either the BK-2 or the Ranger RD6. I like them both, too. I am just mentioning a couple of other options you may want to consider. You really can't go wrong with any of those models. They are all rugged knives.

Also take a look at the Rd6 Bush - the 3/16" thick Rd.
