I am debating between these two knives (BK2 and BK10) and also the Ontario RAT 5. Any suggestions on which I should get? I'm looking for something to take along camping, hiking, fishing, etc. to be a general knife and also something that will serve me well should I get lost in the woods for a few days. I also posted this in the Camillus forum, I'm not trying to spam: just to get some legitmate advice. Thanks!

How much do you want to spend ?

I'd also consider a Swamprat or a Fallkniven, either the A-1 or the F-1

.

It also depends on what type of geometry or cutting ability you want, I would go for something like a masterhunter, or the BK10.

Out of the 3 specific knives you listed, the Rat-5 stands out as the nicer of the 3. And, as it follows the more expensive of the 3, except that the Beckers are tougher to get right now and you may find the prices more elevated than several months ago.

The Rat-5 has the nicer Micarta handle, and for just that i give it

If price were your aboslute overriding factor, the Beckers would get the nod, and would still serve well.

The BK2 is 0.25" thick. The BK10 is 0.188" thick.

While I like the blade shape of the BK2 better, it is way too thick for a general purpose camp knife. It is the perverbial prybar.

If chopping/splitting is needed you might be better off with something longer like the BK9, but for me its just too long to be a general camp knife.

I found my BK10 just too heavy to carry on-belt, so I switched to carrying the fixed Rittergrip.
