The birthday has come and gone. Picked up a BK24 and a set of micarta scales.

Love the 24. Kind of neutral on the scales.

I don't love that the 24 rattles a bit in the sheath it came with. It's the same sheath the 11 comes with and the 11 doesn't rattle at all. I guess the difference is the coating.

Any suggestions on how to stop the rattle?

I made a minimal leather sheath for my 11 that I can carry the 14 in without the scales that doesn't rattle, but I'd like to have the option of using the scales from time to time without making a new one and without the rattle.

Nice 24! It's a damn fine blade, and D2 at that price... is just awesome.

Darksidedenny's advice on getting another Kydex sheath is some solid advice.

Yes, Kydex all the way. I will never go back to the stock sheath. The ESEE scales are very nice and they do take some geting used to. But after a short while, you will like them. Give them a chance.

They both do excellent work.....If you are asking, "is it worth it?" The answer is, "YES"

This pocket sheath was made by JD (710) originally for an 11 with his custom scales. But it fits my 24 with ESEE scales just fine. NO RATTLE!

Kydex is ok but I prefer Psyop's leather for my 24 and some custom mesquite burl. :D
Ya I know I started with a nice economic little fixed blade and turned it into a rather pricey semi-custom but I really, really love it!

Hey folks, I know this is a bit off topic, but I was torn between the bk14 and bk24. I will be purchasing the micarta scales to go along with it. Any concerns you guys have with one that isn't an issue with the other?

I really dig the burlwood.

I went with the 24 over the 14 for the D2 steel. I believe it is harder, stays sharp longer and is more rust resistant. I don't think you go wrong either way though.

And I just bought another one to put in the wife's car because the price was really good when I went and looked. I have got to stop this. I am going to go broke. :o

Hey Dunkem,
I did not make them but I cannot recommend the guy I bought them from. His product is kinda hit & miss. I've bought a couple of sets from him but only really happy with this set.

I'd make another leather sheath for the knife with scales. There are lots of makers out there to help too
