BK-5 grip size?

Howdy all. I finally pulled the trigger on a BK-5 and I'm waiting for arrival. My question is, are the grips for the 5 the same dimensions as the other full size Beckers? I had a 2 a few years back and it was too thick for my hands, so I know I'm going to want to slim the handles down. There seems to be quite a few after market options for the other knives, but nothing I can find for the 5. The micarta grips on the Kabar web site say "will fit most". Thanks for your help.

Yes. At least they are with the Camillus versions. I reckon it's the same with the new ones made by KaBar.

In comparing my bk 2 with the bk5 they look the same but I'm just going by looks.

Ok i can blame you for openeing up the BK2 box again before Xmas:)

here is a pic of the BK5 and the Bk2, they look identical.

The Kabar Magnum Camp is slimmer than the BK2. It will feel a bit thinner in hand. It's a great knife, I'm pretty sure that you'll like it if not love it. If you don't you can just send it to me and I'll make sure it's disposed of properly!! :)

The micarta offered by ka bar will fit the 2,5,7,9 (ask the size becker, as far as thicknesses the 5 should feel slimmer than the 2 seeing as how the 2 is .25 in thick and the five is slimmer. However I dont have a five.......yet

the actual slabs as made and sold by KaBar are now are slimmer and are completely redesigned compared to the Camillus versions. they had some older Camillus slabs which they used up in the early days (the more square blocking kind), but they have, iirc, long sold out.

that is to say, a KaBar and a Camillus compared in hand, the KaBar is slimmer, not even comparing actual blade thickness.

the same is now true of all/most of the other knives. most people haven't noticed :>

so, as Nsvens89 implied most strongly, comparing a new KaBar 2 to a 5, the 5 will feel slimmer based on blade thickness variances.

if you look at the DB, comparing Camillus to KaBar models, you'll probably note that some blade thicknesses changed.

Bladite has all the data of course.
I have both a 2 and a 5. The 2 is a bit big around for my hands. The 5 fits me GREAT. It's amazing what 1/16" of thickness can do.

Thanks for your help, I'll just wait and see how they feel before I plan to replace them.

That's mighty generous of you, it must be Christmas time.

Will the new Kabar micarta handle slabs fit on the Camillus versions?
