My new replacement BK 62 Kephart just showed up from Ka-bar, despite all the flooded roads we have here.

Outstanding customer service from them.
And I see no issues or blemishes on this one.
(no info on what they thought about the one I returned, but that is ok: it happens)

Really looking forward to getting some use with it.:)

Will this be a permanent (or semi-permanent) model? I hesitated on the BK20, and my lack of conviction haunts me to this day. I’ve always wanted a Kephart design, but just kept putting it off since my business went under. Now that Kabar is behind a historically accurate model and uncle Ethan had an influence on it, the time is right. Money is super tight, but if there’s a limited number and no plans to re-release, I might have to just eat eggs and white bread for a couple of weeks to make it happen. A Becker Kephart seems like a sign from the universe, I don’t want to miss the chance! Besides my BK-9 needs a little brother.

semi-permanent, but like anything else, that's not guaranteed... i'd buy a couple and "put them back"

Already looking for stuff around the house I can sell haha! I really don’t want to miss this one, I’ve been obsessed with Horace Kephart and Richard Proenneke since I was 14. Huge fan of the old timers, I even still prefer to carry waxed canvas bags, matches, leather, etc. instead of more modern gear when I hit the woods for the weekend. Something is just so satisfying about the history of how things used to be done before gortex and cordura. Know what I mean?

I have zip for credit since I lost the business, and about 600$ to my name for the foreseeable future, but by God I’m not going to miss out on this model haha!

Glad you are happy with Ka-Bar’s service... They truly are good folks.....

Kabar is truly excellent! Years ago the button snap broke on my usmc model leather sheath, kabar sent me a replacement immediately and didn’t even ask for the broken one to be sent back! So happy they are producing the BK&T line.

I bought several at pre-release prices when they came out, being afraid it would disco sooner than I like and so my boys had one when they come of age. If you've got interesting stuff to trade, instead of the need to sell some stuff, email me your shipping address at c (dot) rector at live.com and we'll get you a kephart. Of the few beckers I've had and touched, this one is the most special out of the box, IMO. It's a really nice complete package.

Disclaimer, the rest of the beckers are nice, but some customization makes them "special" IMO.

That is awesome! Most of the stuff I’m planning to sell isn’t anything that cool or gear related, mostly just some computer and camera stuff I’ve never used and maybe a skillsaw or a sawzall, I have to look around. BUT, I have to go through all my stuff soon anyways and start packing up for a move, so I’ll definitely put together an inventory of anything worthwhile I have. Most of my gear is either pretty heavily used, or just not that valuable, some cold steel folders, military surplus packs, a cheap compound bow, lots of high end hammock gear, stuff like that. I’ll see what I have though! Either way, I really appreciate the offer man! I love this damn forum!

Cool, hopefully we can work something out. I see a few things there that could be neato... shipping may be a butt.

[edit] deleted the long ass content from this post because it’s no longer relevant and I didn’t want to clutter the thread. Mobile won’t seem to let me just delete it. Maybe a cool mod can delete it for me?

Not sure if any of this stuff is interesting to you or if you have a use for it, but here’s a short list of some of the stuff I came across when packing up my home office today: I don’t expect that anything really sticks out but I can take pics of anything if you’d like to see it. I might be coming into some unexpected money next month, and I’m definitely going to get a bk62 if that happens, so there’s no worry on my end!

SOG power-assist EOD black oxide (lightly used)

Leatherman wave EOD Black oxide (heavily used) with custom horizontal nylon sheath

Leatherman bit kit

Fiskars small hatchet (lightly used)

Bahco Laplander folding saw (lightly used)

Cold steel voyager tango XL - brand new/unused

Cold steel voyager tanto XL with snaggletooth wave opener - lightly used

(Yeah I got 2 voyagers, never even tested the unused one)

Cold steel rajah III very heavily used

Ruger .22 “break barrel” air rifle

countycomm peanut lighter green anodized

Small case lockback folder stag scales

Wilderness logic tadpole 132” x 92” silnylon tarp OD green lightly used

Bosavi 110 lumen usb rechargeable headlamp

Sierra Madre pares x-wide hammock with Whoopie sling suspension and dutchware titanium mini carabiners

I’ve got some other stuff kicking around I’ll try to get a list of, but like I said earlier, I don’t really accumulate very much valuable stuff that would be good for trading, this is all just stuff I don’t ever use, so I wouldn’t miss it either way.

Can you email me at c (dot) rector at live.com, just so we don't take up too much space on the thread?

Several of those things look interesting and I think we can work something out pretty easily, especially with the leatherman stuff.

100% agree. The 62 is a blade that truly begs to be used. I haven’t even had it for 24 hours yet, but I’ve been putting time in and getting to know it with every minute I can spare. What a slicer! I couldn’t show my face here ever again if I didn’t tell everyone how grateful I am to bikerector. He made it possible and helped me arrange a trade (I’m dead broke since my business went under). This forum is made up of the best dudes on bladeforums. The BK-62 is my favorite belt carry knife I own at the moment, a total workhorse that just perfectly fits my uses (so far). Can’t wait for the weekend, so I can really separate some materials.
