How does the Bk-7 handle skinning and gutting deer and other large and small game? Does the wide blade hinder it in any way?

While I'm sure it could be done, it wouldn't be my first, second, or third choice as my hunting knife. In my opinion there are a lot of knives within that price point, and even within the BK&T line, that would handle the job significantly better. I'd recommend checking out some knives from Bark River.

Hey Guys..

I'd agree that the BK7 wouldn't make a good skinning knife..Not that it couldn't be done though.

With a smaller primary blade for general duty chores, the BK 7 would make a good companion for a small knife at an affordable price range...

A smaller BRKT would make an excellent choise for a skinning knife

That's too bad, I was going to get the Bk-7 but I'm a hunter and if it can't be used as a hunting knife then it's out of the running. How well does the Ka-bar skin game?

Why not get the BK11? Last I heard it was tested on skinning deer and performed well. Want something a little longer.. the Buck 119.

The Ka-Bar works well for splitting the breastbone on a whitetail, but my choice for field dressing and skinning is the Blackjack Small. Very nice little knife at a good price.
