As the title says, who prefers the Bk7 over the BK9 and why?
I dont own a 9 but I just feel the 7 will be a easier handling knife, I feel the 9 can accomplish chopping faster, and larger batoning but will feel a little unwieldy for me. just curious on opinions of people that have and worked with both. thx in advance

The 9 really doesn't feel too big when you're using it, but often I feel like the7 is a little too small. The 7 it's definitely lighter and can still do big boy work, but if chopping is an option, go with the king.

there have been times i felt the 7 was a little small for the job i was using it for, but everytime i think about trying a 9 i look at em and just think itll feel to big, im going to give it a try, thx for the replys.

thx for the link thrillbilly

if i searched tho and just read old threads i wont earn my posts here to become a beckerhead!

THE KING!!! no i love my 7 its modded a bit (no pics sorry) but no thumb ramp, jimping, fire steel notch, stripped, choil and the same with my 9 now minus the choil and fire steel notch... but can you do THIS with a 7??

I recently was asking the same question but as I have owned a BK2 for some time I thought I just go all out and get the big daddy. Let me say the big 9 had not disapointed yet! I thought at first it would be to heavy to wield for long periods but this is not the case at all. The weight of the BK9 is superb I have even started using for some of my work (garden/landscaping) as I have found it easier to use than a machete!
I have not handled a BK7 so I can't compare the two but as I said I already have a BK2 for for my camp duties so that's why I decided to go for the BK9.

Go the 9 you won't look back!!

Great pics, helluva log u split there, def not doing that with the 7, at least not down the middle. Alright, you guys sold me, going to put in an order for the 9. Thx for the replys.

I don't have a 7 nor have I handled one, it looks like a great knife. I do own a 9 though and its awesome. You just need to ask yourself what you want to be a be able to do with the knife, what do you want it for. I am sure this has been said before and will be said many times after and if you haven't heard it take it to heart when thinking about what knife to get or use: Any job a small knife can do a big knife can do to, but a small knife can't do all the jobs a big one can. Or something along those lines, sure may be a little bit harder to do the finer work with a big knife then a smaller one but a lot harder to baton a large log with a small knife, not impossible but very hard and potentially could break the knife.
I'm a fan of larger knives though so I am a bit biased, I like all knives even small ones but lean towards big, even a lot of my pocket knives are larger then most.

You want the BK9 and you know it.

It's a big knife. How much chopping will you be doing? If not a lot then go a lot smaller, smaller than the 7.

I was on the fence about this for some time, but I am proud to say that I ordered a BK9 the other day. It will be my first Becker. I figured why do anything halfway? I have plenty of fixed blades in the 4" range, but the only bigguns I have are a 14" machete and an 18" HI kukhri, both of which are a bit big to carry around. The BK9 seems to fit a perfect niche for me. Go big or go home!

just ordered it! will post after i receive it and give my thoughts on how it feels compared to the 7 that im already used to, thx for the replys.
