I finally picked up a mate for my old BK-2. I got me a BK-7 yesterday. Gotta love the feel of those blades. I'm lookin forward to getting it out and using it, just a little.

Good choice, you'll like it. Makes a great camp knife for all around use. Of course the ramp needs to be ground off.....:D

Let's see some pics when you put it to work.

Good choice, I really like my 7 and it was one of the few blades I liked so much stock that I was a little torn on whether to customize it or not. Modded it anyway though haha :). Hope you enjoy yours.

I'm not sure about doin any mods to mine. Probably have to give it a little time and dinged up before I start screwin with it.

I agree with bacpacker. You definitely need to give it some time before modding it. I thought I would hate the ramp on my 9 but it's actually very comfortable.

Oh, I totally agree. Give it some time. Look it over good and get a feel for it while the grinder is coming up to speed...:D

The ramp adds a metallic taste to your food if you leave it on. At least that is what I hear from this one guy.

Sounds like that one guy is cutting with the wrong edge. You wouldn't think a knife would require instructions for usage, aside from slightly less obvious ones like "don't cut yourself."

Id rather no ramp, but im not going to grind mine down. if it could be done before the coating is applied that would be great.

visually speaking it looks nice, but my thumb doesnt sit on the ramp as designed, it sits on the high point which is very uncomfortable when your trying to do detailed cuts with a large knife. to get my thumb positioned as it should be i have to hold onto the last part of the handle, which is fine if im chopping but not good for delicate jobs. Then again id use a smaller blade if i needed precise cuts.

I actually went the opposite way and purchased a 7 befor I got my 2. Both are excellent knives, but the 7 seems to be more of an all-around knife. Def get the micarta scales for the 7 - a world of difference. Already ordered a set for my 2 lol.

I think I read somewhere that leaving the ramp on imparts a metallic taste to food. Ionic transfer osmosis or something. Removing the offending appendage alleviates the problem.

Sure, just throw in a bunch of big words and confuse us all into chopping off the ramp.

I use this method with the wife. it normally starts with something like, "the equilibrium is the equator of the mind and part of a transfer of intelligence"..... then she walk away......And the argument on doing the dishes is never finished lmao
