BK-9 Handles

Seeing Guyon's immense collection got me thinking, is there anywhere to get the "extreme" micarta handles for the BK-9 still or am I pretty much a day late and a dollar short?

Like everybody else, quite a few days short, I'm afraid. When those handles came out - Camillus was selling them fairly inexpensively and they went VERY fast.

My memory is short, like really short, but I think someone at Ranger (or ???) knives was making some and installing them if you send them your knife. I'm sure someone will correct me, and maybe even give a contact name.

I bought nearly all those from Tom at Chestnut Ridge. He has long been out of them, I believe. Wish I had one more set, actually.

Justin Gingrich, at Ranger Knives, will put you on some nice micarta, however. You will lose the coating around the perimeter at the handle (he grinds/sands them to fit), but Justin does a nice job with scales.

Hey Everyone...

I am reasonably certain that micarta handles will be available in a few months...

All Best....

That's good news. Still have a BK-9HH that needs some micarta.

For us old codgers not used to nekkid knives, any chance that accessory slabs will be made available for the BK11 pattern?

Oh, I will. Mine should be here this week. I just imagine in my mind trying to work with a cold bare metal handle, like using one of my Schrade unfinished blanks. The BK11 is probably nothing like that, but it still seems like it would be cold in the hand. If that winds up being the case, I can use a different sheath and "handle it". You know how creative us Tennessee boys can be. :D

Thanks!

That one takes a paracord wrap really well.

Here's a pic of the users (with micarta). See the Necker for one kind of cord wrap.

Ethan, pardon me for reading between the lines but... I am reading between the lines. And what I read is that the current plan is to stick with the original sheath design. Do I miss the mark by much? I have to tell you how much I appreciate your coming here and sharing with us what you can. I do very well understand the concept of keeping the cat in the bag until it is time to introduce a pattern to the public. And we are not unlike children in the days leading up to Christmas, rattling and feeling packages for clues as to what is inside. And bothering Mum and Dad for hints, knowing full well that the best presents are the unexpected ones.

I'm happy to see that the Becker Knives will be back into production. If the Micarta handles will be ready in a few month, does that mean that some of the Becker Knives will be out before the end of the year?

God that would be good news.

I made some really nice wooden scales for mine and also some plastic ones from an 1950's vaccuum that would work with the sheath, but nothing works or rather carry's as well as a simple easy to clean cord wrap. Single layer wraps are not even noticeable under the shirt! stryder type wraps are very thick and comfortable on this little knife.

Perhaps it could be offered in an optional micarta handled version with a nice little leather belt carry sheath... oh by the way please tell me that they are not going to be stainless!
