After going back and forth between waiting for the ESEE Junglas and getting a BK-9, I decided to get the BK-9. Of course, I'll probably own both in the end :D . I am so looking forward to opening the mailbox in a few days and seeing that huge box. The deciding factor was when I read Ethan's comment that the BK-9 was his go-to woods blade.

Thanks Ethan for making such great products! I can't wait to get out and use this blade.

Pics will follow, once the package arrives.

I like the looks of that Junlgas and can't wait to see the sheath for it. That was my only complaint of the Rtak II.

Ethan -

Wow, thanks for taking the time to reply! I will do a review once I get the knife, and the time to head out with it. I'm planning on a hiking/camping trip from April 30th-May 2nd, to my favorite Wildlife Management Area, about 3 hours north of North Platte, NE. I'll take my camera, and my BK-9.

You'll love the BK-9. I was using mine a few weeks ago to split up some kindling and it did amazing.

Only bad thing is that now you'll probably want a BK-2 and a BK-10(hopefully Kabar starts making them!) like I do.., hopefully funds will allow it in the near future.

Well, I already have the BK-2 , and a Necker. I figured this would round out my collection for the time being. I'm sure I'll continue to acquire more of Ethan's fine designs as time and money allow, though.

I can't wait. I'm hoping that it hit my mailbox tomorrow, so I can squeeze in a quick hike Sunday.

Congrats on the BK9. I love mine and use it often. She get's as much kitchen time as woods. :D

after watching the wife struggle to cut a pork loin up yesterday with one of her "expensive"($129) kitchen knives for nearly 10 minutes, i politely asked her to step aside and put the BK9 to work. my job was done quick, i got 14 chops an inch and a half thick with nothing left to do but wrap them in wax paper for the freezer. ive used the BK2 for years, but her eyes get as big as saucers when she realized i was gonna use the "big boy" for the job. it cut through half frozen loin nearly 6" thick like BUTTER. now if i could get her over the fear of my big black knives;)...afterwards i realized i should have taken pics, but i got one more full loin in the freezer. i promise i will next time.

get her a BK-77 :) stainless, collectible, and not black. should work pretty well in the kitchen. though a stripped BK-09 might be more fun.

im afraid if i got her a BK-77 i wouldnt let her touch it. ive seen her place food meant to be chopped up on a stoneware plate..... grrrr

Well, it arrived today and I couldn't be happier. I can't believe how light and agile the 9 feels for being such a large blade. It's an amazing piece of design and engineering. I'm really looking forward to getting out and work this knife over some, maybe even before the weekend comes around. I'll post pics as soon as I have some.
