I want to begin with two Public Service Announcements.

First... if you haven't already gotten your limited edition Land Between The Lakes camo flame/antler blaze orange noggin' warmer, then you better act fast. Rosemary tells me supplies are dwindling.

Second... damn. Patiently aged is right.

Now onto our regularly scheduled program. Problem tree was growing through the roof.

BK-9 came, saw, and dominated.

Finally... brown gold.

pecan shells are great in the smoker or in a tin on the grill to add a little extra smoke flavor to your food.

Good workout. Did you use just the 9 because it was all you had, or because you wanted to try it out for prosperitys sake?

Kicks and giggles. I broke out the Poulan on the rest of it.
That reminds me. If anyone wants to buy me a Stihl for Christmas... :p

I'll get you a stihl for Christmas, but you gotta get me one of equal or greater value first!

Seriously, it took about 30-40 minutes.
My tired ass actually chopped left-handed for a while. :p
The BK-9 was impressive in limbing out that fallen part though.

Under an hour is impressive, i might could handle that but would probably make it take 3 or 4 hours with breaks. Of course in the wild i wouldnt ever chop a tree that big. Unless i was making a boat then id need something quite a bit bigger and if possible would pay someone or barter my way out of cutting it down myself lmao :)

I actually have some florida land and i need to clear a homesite of oaks and pines. I want to keep the natural woods as much as possible and only cut out quarter to half acre at most for the homesite. Im thinking of getting a stihl for this but have no experience in chainsaws, which should i go for? the trees are full grown and some are quite large. I have access to a backhoe in florida but only when its not in use. Ill need a chainsaw...........my bad, not trying to jack your thread but i dont think im allowed to start a chainsaw thread in the becker subforum, and the rest of the site is..... well not home-

I've been thinking of getting a Becker for awhile now. This thread just pushed me over the edge. Can't wait. Thanks for the pics.

It was the orange hat, wasn't it?

matgarsmi, some of the cool kids will try to talk you out of your thumb ramp. Don't succumb! Heck, leave your coating on too! :D

If you have no experience in chainsaws, my advice is to do some reading and get some lighter practice before you start clearing larger trees. It's an art like anything else.

Thank you for that link! I would definetly start with smaller trees to get the hang of it but doubt ill have any real issues. I have experience with some hand tools and power equipment. tractors backhoes directional boring rigs jack hammers cranes shovels picks axes knives band saws table saws skill saws and so on. this would be a little different but i feel confident with most any tool as long as your not wanting pretty results :)
