I just took my newly acquired BK-9 out in the woods to clear some paths and work on throwing some deadfall trees onto a stream. This thing is a monster chopper. I used it on a number of trees and here is what I found: Dead or green tree's 5 inches and less in diameter go down really quick. Trees between 6-8 inches in diameter, even hardwoods, are also manageable with some sustained chopping. I only came across one log around 12 inches in diameter that I felt I needed an ax for. No pics today, but maybe next time.

I too am very impressed by the BK-9. I was shocked at the relative ease needed to dipatch brush and small trees along my pasture fence line and the trail along the creek. Like you, I discovered a great chopping tool in the 9, and it's a lot more practical than my small hand axes. Have fun & chop safe!

I like tradewater's solution to the forward lanyard. Easy and simple! Might be the trick for new users. All of my "accidents", ie stupid moves, have been the result of cutting towards my grasping hand. NEVER CHOP TOWARDS ANY PART OF YOUR ANATOMY. A violation will eventually get you bit. Trust me!

Chop on, chop safe.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.....And thanks for reiterating rule one ....Be The CUTTER, NOT the CUTTEE....

All Best....
