BK coating vs BT2 coating

I'm ordering my 710 and noticed that on Benchmade's site the code says 710SBKD2 but on GPKnives it's a BT2 coating. Is there a difference between the two? I may have asked this before but I couldn't find the post again.

EDIT: I see that BK is newer and supposed to be better than BT, so why is GPKnives still offering the older coating? Did they just not update it or what? Maybe I'll email them and ask.

I emailed them but I'm still wondering what someone else thinks. SHould I try to find a place that has BK instead of BT2 if GP does infact still have the older ones?

But didn't Benchmade stop using BT2 coating awhile ago when they introduced BK coating? That's why I wonder if GPknives just didn't update their site or something, but I guess I won't know until tomorrow because they aren't there until Tuesday.

if ya are looking for something scuff proof, niether one is that.

i have heard the BK is better FWIW.

The BK coating looks like it is actually in the steel whereas the BT coating looks like a coating and is softer than the BK. I much prefer the BK. Btw, I notice that the imports have something called BP, or Black Pearl, which is supposedly harder than the BT coating.

Well hopefully GPknives will get back t me today and let me know which ones they carry, I prefer the BK coating so I hope those are the ones they have. This is driving me nuts, I finally make my mind up to order the knife n Saturday and I have to wait until they email me back before I go through with it :(
