BK model nicknames

The BK1 has always been the Brute, and at some point in BK history the BK9 became the King-----------at least among Beckerheads. So what other models have nicknames that have stuck? The BK2 often gets a slanderous prybar reference, but not an official nickname. While the 9 is an awesome knife, the other BKs deserve their moments of glory too, and pet names show 'em how much we do care. :D

So please catch me up to speed with the other names I'm not aware of.

If there aren't names yet, how about this becoming the BK nickname thread?

For instance:

BK7 (a favorite) could be The Duke or Goldilocks. One sounds regal, while the other aptly compliments its balanced perfection in a back-handed way.

BK11, The Bartender, or The Key.

BK 2, The Pounder, referring to both its weight and ability to take a beating a ask for more.

Anyway, I know I'm not good at naming things but hopefully I got the door open to some friendly name calling. :)

The BK-2 was always called the Beast...Can't think of any other names that stuck.

By the way, the BK-1 is actually called the brute, same as the 7 is the combat utility, it is it's official name.

Thanks CamH. I knew the Brute was the official name, not a nick, and I forgot about the Beast.

IMO the Tweeners all deserve their own identities------------even if it's just Marykate and Ashley and Miley. :D

No... I believe the BK 2 is called the Companion...

But I guess that is an official name rather than a nickname... As was already pointed out about BK1 and Brute.

Maybe we should start working on some. Everyone go take some shots and meet in the Becker chat room and we'll hammer this thing out.

After I learned the 9 was the King, I started referring (albeit to myself) to the other more popular ones as chess pieces.

I actually made a list one time with the plan to photoshop the knives onto a chess board.....(yea, silly, I know)

I made the list based on popularity (or cult following),usage or sometimes comparing the knife's functionality/performance to the specific movement of the chess piece

9- King (because it is)
16- Queen (more versatile than any other, is Ethan's favorite and because everyone loves Queens)
7 and 3- Knight (because it's the combat blade/prybar that is often over-looked for its versatility and awesomeness. I imagined the 3 and 7 moving in the L shape across the bush-crafting/weapon/utility environment.....like the knight does on the chess board)
15, 17- Bishop (because they have such a huge cult following and have their place in Beckerdom)
2 and 4- Rook (because although they are very versatile, they are linear blades and not perfect at any one thing)
Pawn-11, 13, 14/24 (because they are the most useful/expendable and because they can be transitioned into way more than they are)

I limited the list to production blades, so the 1, 5, 6 and 12 are not included because they are either out of production or are collaboration pieces. That being said, the 14 was included (although it is a collaboration piece) it is a marriage of two knives but is a very popular Becker. I wanted to include the 5 in the lineup but, it's hugeness and slicer elements made it extremely difficult to categorize it or to give it chess piece

I think of my 2 as the "warthog"...I don't know why, just has that look about it, like it could take on some tough tasks and wouldn't get any uglier (in that beautiful on the inside, utilitarian sort of way). Make sense to me, anyway.

I meant that the 2 was nicknamed "The beast" not its official name as the Campanion.

Interesting list Tdhurl, and the chess angle isn't something I'd considered. I assumed "King" was a reference to both superiority and royalty, so I was thinking along the lines of royalty. Chess pieces are obviously derived from royal titles, so I guess all roads still lead to Rome. :)

Since the BK 9 is known as the King...it makes me think of Elvis...not the skiiny Elvis but the big fat one just before the end....with that in mind the BK7 due to the similar profile could be Young Elvis.

Yeah... I figured .. hence the second sentence...
my mistake...

I guess it threw me a bit since I don't call my 2 "the beast", nor my 9 "the king" ...

I call them something else.
