I just picked up what I thought was a BK&T Tactool at a flea market.
Upon examination at home, I find that it differs from my Tactool in the following ways;

The green lettering on the black box has a sticker marked
RESQ/DIVTUL N.R - BJK BK&T. #71071220301

The knife is 11.5 inches overall which is 1 inch shorter then the Tactool, the grey beadblasted 6 inch blade is marked BK&T, made in USA Effingham, IL, the handle is grey composite with lanyard hole.

A nice black Eagle brand sheath is supplied.

Any info on exactly what I have and when it was produced would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
dave

You've got a pre-Camillus Tac-Tool, from when Becker was a separate company. If it's anything like the one I just traded into, it's 440A, has thicker stock, steeper angles on the prying tip, a longer run of serrations (also different style from current production), and sloppier handle-to-tang fit.

Side-by-side, I prefer my current production model. Afraid I don't know when either of our early Tac-Tools were made, though.

Thanks for the quick reply, sounds like it is the same exact knife as yours.
I guess I might as well go ahead and use it next time I need to destroy something around the house.

thanks

Thanks for all the replies, I just took this picture and figure someone may be able to guess at a date.
Since the name states ResQ-DivTul, can this be used as a dive knife and if so, how rust resistant is 440A if that is actually what the steel is?

Thanks
dave
