Helo everyone, I heard quite alot about changes and addon done to their blades.

Could you all out there tell me wad type of add-on or modifications can I do to me BK1 blade to spice it up and still retain it's original heavy duty blade?

IF you have pictures, do post them up.:)

I am still waiting on my BK1 to arrive. I will most likely strip the black epoxy paint and clean it up to a semi satin or satin finish. I ordered a 12x12x1.5 inch block of Natural Canvas Micarta for some new grip panels and will need to get a bunch of Loveless brass rivets ordered. Sometime down the road I will need to get some good leather sheaths made as I hate the Kydex and the Nylon is very flimsy looking to me.

Can I ask you, how do you strip the black epoxy paint? After stripping the paint, will the knive rust easily? Where can I find the micarta handle for BK1 and does the change in handle increase or decrease the performance grip of the blade?

My BK9 and BK2 the black epoxy paint came right off with a little Citrus Strip. The BK10 is being stuburn and the Citrus Strip hasn't even softened the epxoy on that blade.

I am still waiting on the BK1 and BK7 to get here.

See another post below about Custom Mods to a BK10 and BK2 and one on Micarta Panels and the BK1 needing longer screws.

There is a lot of great info on the Beck line to read through when you have the time.

And yes the blade will rust if not properly cared for.

Any idea where can I get my hands on micarta handle replacement for my BK1 outside USA? How do you maintain the blade after stripping the black epoxy coat?

As for the Factory panels you would have to contact Camillus, contact info is posted on one of the posts. The Ranger panels are from a different company and I believe the info and link to there website is also posted in one of those same posts.

I ordered a 12x12x1.5 inch block of Natural Canvas Micarta to make my own panels. More work and way messy but well worth it in the end.

As for caring for the Carbon Steel blade after stripping if, leave it the way it is or you can start wet sanding (use Mineral Oil) to clean up the blade. I cheated and have a cheap 1x30 belt/disk sander for heavy grinding, re profiling and cleaning up the blade. Once you have the blade the way you want it just keep it clean and oiled once in a while. If it should rust a little just get out the W/D sand paper and start over.

Besides the belt sander and up to 320 polishing grit I have been using 400-600 with mineral oil on my BK9.

So a totally of $45 plus shipping right? And how do I pay you?

Can you show me any of your pictures of the Micarta handle?

I would like to ask, for the grease on the BK1 blade, can I just use those from the hardware shop? Or must I buy special grease to put on it?

Uhmmm.... no. I think he said, "$25.00 for the handles and screws, $20.00 for just the handles. Plus shipping."

Now, overseas shipping *might* put you at $45, but that's not what CRKS wrote.

I think the Camillus scales are the same as the ones that go on the Extreme.

Forgive me if I'm being dense, but are you saying the micarta panels above actually fit on a BK1?

If so, I'm going to probably be all over this.... :D
