I was thinking about getting a brute but I was wondering if you guys think it's worth the money spent on one or if I'd just be better off getting a 9? Also what do you guys think is a good price for one? Thanks in advance!

For the money, get the 9. For the collector and cool factor go with the brute.

I got one for around $140ish. Mine didn't have a box but was mint. Took a long time to find one at that price. They usually go for 200ish to 250 with box and in mint condition. The used ones with a little wear on the coating are a little cheaper.

It's a heavy blade tho but I'm glad I picked one up.

Guess your thinking hard about the two in the auction site huh. Lol

Wish I could get a second but I'm saving for Becker Patrol Packs!

Actually i didn't, lol. I didn't even know some one bid till I saw your post:D

If they get it I guess that solves my problem ha!

the general opinion is that the 9 out-performs the 1 in every way except looking cool.

But who doesn't like looking cool!! Lol

Really, I need to do a test between the two and see what the real differences are.

Ah %^@+....... I am going to have to keep an eye on that one. 90% of the brutes I see there don't ship to canada but this guy does so maybe this is my chance. I really would like to have one as I am trying my best to get each model but I can already hear my wife complaining........let's see becker brute or wife ticked off...... Pretty sure she'll get over it.... Yep gonna put a bid in.
Wish me luck that is unless someone here already has bid on it. I wouldn't want to over step

I had an bad bk1 experience on the bay with one of the recent sellers. A few months ago I 'won' the BK1 at an extremely low buy now price. I was skeptical but the seller had pretty good ratings. It didn't ship for a couple of days. Then I received a refund notice through p'pal that the money was refunded because the item was lost. I contacted the seller and he gave me a story that it was lost in his "warehouse" or stolen. He "searched" for it for a week then said he'd keep me in mind if he ever found it. I left negative overall feedback with text about some of the facts. He 'found' it a few weeks ago and told me he wouldn't accept my bid because of the negative feedback. The interesting part is the new listing had a Reserve at least $40 more than the earlier buy it now price. Looks like someone won it last week for twice the original listing. The winning bid was still good so hopefully someone on the forum added a Brute to their collection. As I thought from the beginning, the sellers 'loss' was for his gain.

The reason for the story is it caused me to think about why I wanted the bk1. Definitely cool looking but from a use case, the 9 is a great chopper. The other benefit of the bad transaction was I went over to the traditionals section of this site. I've read some great posts over there and picked up a few GECs which I use far more than any of my Beckers due to my work situation. I'm still looking forward to mod'ing my bk2, 9 & 11, but for most of my daily use the traditional folders were better use of my knife buying funds.

So I just went and looked at the site again and now it is not up for bids but flat out sale for $350..... Guess I just lost interest

Wow. I'd be mad if I was the one bidding at $150. That's just nuts. Maybe make the guy an offer? And thing will never sell at $350.

Nah I will pass as if that is the guys approach I'd rather not deal with him....I wish him luck with his sale but I can promise it will not be headed to my neck of the woods

i bought 20 BK1s for $20 each... good deal.

then sold them for $30,000 each to weird guys with BK numbers

well, you know.

stupid knife.

if you want one, buy one. else, don't.

glad to help.

I'm the guy selling it. Northeastkydex1.
I had someone make me an offer so I raised the price so no one would bid on it.
The offer fell through since he wouldn't pay with pay pal.
Back to the original price with no more offers being accepted.
