I had an bad bk1 experience on the bay with one of the recent sellers. A few months ago I 'won' the BK1 at an extremely low buy now price. I was skeptical but the seller had pretty good ratings. It didn't ship for a couple of days. Then I received a refund notice through p'pal that the money was refunded because the item was lost. I contacted the seller and he gave me a story that it was lost in his "warehouse" or stolen. He "searched" for it for a week then said he'd keep me in mind if he ever found it. I left negative overall feedback with text about some of the facts. He 'found' it a few weeks ago and told me he wouldn't accept my bid because of the negative feedback. The interesting part is the new listing had a Reserve at least $40 more than the earlier buy it now price. Looks like someone won it last week for twice the original listing. The winning bid was still good so hopefully someone on the forum added a Brute to their collection. As I thought from the beginning, the sellers 'loss' was for his gain.
The reason for the story is it caused me to think about why I wanted the bk1. Definitely cool looking but from a use case, the 9 is a great chopper. The other benefit of the bad transaction was I went over to the traditionals section of this site. I've read some great posts over there and picked up a few GECs which I use far more than any of my Beckers due to my work situation. I'm still looking forward to mod'ing my bk2, 9 & 11, but for most of my daily use the traditional folders were better use of my knife buying funds.
