Finally got my hands on a BK10 (actually two
) and wanted to take it out and see how well it did with batoning. I found an old wooden plank probably left over from the deck and went to town. There was a big knot in the wood and I wanted to see how well the BK10 would fair. Upon splitting through it with ease I discovered a bit of fatwood.
Here you can sort of see the variation of color in the wood
Here's the knot where the BK10 went through with ease
Not much of a haul but still a nice surprise
All in all I give it a 9.0 out of 10.0. Only because with the BK2 I didn't even have to baton all the way down. The .25 inch blade just pops pieces apart. In my opinion the BK10 is a better slicer because of the blades thinner profile but BK2 is much better at batoning and just feels a bit more sturdier. Still love these knives though.
I'm one happy camper
