BK10 - Differences through the years?

Are there any differences from the Camillus, Kabar limited release and the current production? Weight and thickness are what I am really wondering. I have had two BK10s and I am feeling the need for another.

I am not positive but I believe that the handles on the older models did not have the cutout to reduce weight. I like the 10 but got a 7 a while back. Still thinking a 10 would be nice.

The Camillus grind is substantially higher, which I think is an advantage. Unfortunately Ka-bar seems to grind all the full-size beckers to the middle of the handle bolt, not the top. On the other hand, Ka-bar materials, quality, and solvency are fabulous.

Wouldn't be awesome if there was like a list somewhere, maybe even on here, of all the different Becker knives, and their variations over the years. Maybe even have it all written up and stickied somewhere easy to find... Maybe we need to ask Joe to get this done up for us... :D

Or check it for yourself like I have and notice that there isnt that much info for the 10s ;) My main question is the difference between Kabar's limited production and their current production, if any. I should have clarified.

the LE's were Camillus blanks cleaned up and finished by KaBar. $$$

the new BK10s after that are entirely on KaBar with their current processes... $$

they should be "about the same" give or take... really no significant differences.

if you like a warranty, buy new. they're also likely to cost less than the old stuff, because, you know, collectors ;)

maybe someone will get around to a slight update, but there haven't been a lot of changes lately :D

Haha, no hard feelings, I didn't exactly clarify my post.

How are the grinds different on the Camillus and Kabar limited if Kabar used Camillus blanks? Or am I missing something.

I wonder why the grind is so much lower on the 10 then the 7. I like the higher grind on the 7 and wish the 10 was the same way.

The blanks are just that, a flat profiled piece usually cut with water jet these days. The grind is done later. So the grind was done later by Ka-Bar on the blanks from Camillus, therefore the difference in grind profile.

Got it, makes sense.
