Long story but just bought a BK10....just seems to be perhaps the right all around "large" Becker for me.

I currently own a 2, 7, 14 and a 16 and have used them quite a bit. They all more or less have a role, but the 16 was probably an impulse buy. The 7 was actually a mistake. Was supposed to be a BK2, but the seller sent me a BK7. Liked it so much I kept it.

Anyway, just weighing the 10 out in terms a larger fixed blade and part of my justification for is that my birthday is a couple weeks off... so I treated myself to a BK10.

I don't know a ton about this knife other than the research I've done over the last couple weeks. Seems to be a winner.

Basically I wanted a hybrid of the BK2 and BK7....I don't think there's any better answer than the BK10. Just really wanted a blade around 5 inches with a good handle that could be as close as you can get to a "do it all" blade.

With any knife, I know there's going to be pros and cons....there's always going to be a compromise on something with a knife. I love all my Beckers, but the 10 seems like a Jack of All Trades kind of knife.

Went ahead and threw in the micarta scales for good measure. They're on both of my large Beckers so I couldn't imagine them not being on my 10.

So for the 10 owners out there......good all around choice? Camping, hunting, bushcrafting etc? Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be very happy with it. Seems like a very nice blade.

Exactly! Micarta is a must, once you've got it on one Becker, There is almost no going back to the Grivory! lol

And Yes. It is a great choice. One of my All time favorite Becker blades. If I knew how much I would have liked this knife, I would have bought one of the LE's a long time ago.

Here's mine! (Modded of course)

Where can I buy those scales?

Congrats on the 10. I have the Camillus version. It's my favorite of the Beckers I own.

Thanks. How did you get them so dark? Stain them?

I have dyed a few sets but that set has not been touched other than lightly sanding the edges.

They get darker the more you use them. The oil and dirt from your hands turns them colors. That is an older picture, I used that knife today and And it is a little darker than that.

Now there are a few variations in the color from the factory, I guess depending on what batch the scales are milled from. I have had brand new sets that were already a brown color and some sets that were almost a light kaki color. But they all darken up somewhat with use.

The BK10 is cool. You need a BK9 though. You can't not have a 9. I'm too tired to come up with a unique ability it'll grant you, but they're just awesome.

It's on my radar, I can't seem to come up with a legit excuse for needing one though....but I sure do want one. :D

You say that now, but when you get one you'll be pleasantly surprised how useful and versatile it is. Plus, once you have a 9, all your food will taste better...or something. I dunno. I'm just waiting to take my clothes out of the dryer so I can go to bed.

Just tell the truth. Buying a 9 will bring about world peace and end all poverty and famine.

I was never interested in this model, even back in the Camillus days. I had a 5 stolen and that will likely be replaced. It has cross use appeal.
