So, everyday I am leaning more to keeping this and the more I read here the more I want to mess with it. I want to sand the grind lines off but I don't want to remove too much metal. What grit paper should I use? I don't want to bring it to a mirror but I don't want a lot of scratches either. Pretty sure "ghetto satin" is the correct term ;). I am also thinking of sharpening the swedge.. Has anyone done this? For those that have, how did you like it? After I reshape the micarta handles I think I am going to try dying them (just finished reading that thread and thinking or trying to get them greener, more OD or trying to get a camo pattern to take). Not sure if I want to patina or refinish but would like some other ideas for cool looking mods, pics would be awesome, thanks in advance everyone!

I sanded the hell out of my BK10 with like 60, then 120, then 220. It's better, but not a mirror. Dunno how the hell anyone gets an actual KA-BAR polished.

My clip point, rampless, choiled, etched bk10 mods. My current one is etched but that's about it

you can get a decent satin finish with a random orbit sander and 320 grit paper.

To get the "mirror" finish you have to start with your coarse grits and work the grind marks out with them and the work your way up to th fine grits. If yo dont, you will find yourself repeating.the process multiple times.

Here's a picture that makes it look way more pretty than it actually was, but the sanding did help.

Bonus: Here's how it looks now with some hot patina action.

Haha, it's called a belt sander.
I can polish knives by hand, but let me tell you, make sure you have a few days, you will be polishing for a while, with quite a few different grits.

I believe it man. My warthog and trail hawk were utterly impervious to an orbital sander with 60
