Ive been looking for a 5 blade for general hiking/camping/screwing around use for a while. I should say another, since I might have a couple few already, but the BK10 has been catching my attention a lot lately (I already have a 15), and I had some Christmas money, so I bought one. I was never really fond of the semi-clip point on the 10, but its a Becker. If you arent a fan of a feature on a Becker, you modify it. So about 11 minutes after the UPS man dropped off the box, I had the tip modified and the coating stripped. The missus stuffed some micarta grips in my stocking, so I slapped them on. Then I brought it inside to play with. Heres what it looked like at that point.
I was a happy camper. Then I flipped it over.
Kinda hard to see, but the grind line was way crooked. I measured it-
On the Becker side, the blade height was 40mm, and the grind line was 25mm.
On the BK10 side the grind line was 30mm.
5mm higher on a 40mm blade is a lot, and it looked defective. So rather than come on here and post my Becker is a defect, I contacted Ka-Bar. I knew that I had voided the official warranty by removing the coating and modifying the blade shape, but at the very least I thought they should know in case there was a problem in production that they needed to address. They asked me to return the knife, so I did. A week or so later the UPS man was back with a box full of brand new, hand inspected BK10 goodness. Again I stripped and modified, probably before the delivery truck even made it to his next stop. The result?

Aint she purty?
Ka-Bar didnt have to replace the knife, but they did without a single question. Thats why I buy Becker knives well that and because Ethan Becker knows his way around a piece of 1095CV. That is some pretty impressive customer service. Nicely done Ka-Bar. Nicely done.
