Thanks guys, this is the first Becker I rounded the spine on and it makes a huge difference when assisting with your opposite thumb while carving. The jimping still throws great sparks on the ferro rod. The rounded pommel makes chopping feel less painful in the palm.
Well as the title suggests Ive been doing some more mods to the 10, or El Piloto as I call it.
Cut the forward finger guard forward some more to provide more room for my grip when Im wearing gloves. I cut the skull crusher down quite a bit. There will still be an 1/8th of an inch sticking out past the bottom of the handle. The handles are cut out of a block of curly maple burl. They have been put in a vacuum pot with polyester resin to stabilize them. The resin definitely darkened the scales more than I wanted but Im pleased with how they look. They will be put together with aluminum pins and lanyard hole.
Thanks guys, here is the almost finished product.
I have to say, making wood scales and stabilizing them is a pain in the ass. BUT the results are worth it. LOL
Here you can see that Ive gained more room in the grip for when I have work gloves on.
