Other than the blade shape and the brass plugs, is there any real difference between the BK10 and the BK12? Thanks.

The BK12 is made by Rowen so it has a slightly different heat treatment (some say better). The coating is a little more durable imo. It is also 1095 and not 1095CV, but the difference is minor. The 12 is also slightly bigger and comes with older style scales that are slightly larger.

other than the manufacturer, steel, blade shape, and blade length, not really.

and the designers :D

also the price

also also the fit and overall finish, including sheath, and presentation

yeah.

I forgot about the heat treating. Not that I have ever had any problem with my Beckers but I know Rowen's reputation. I like the idea of bigger handles since I have large hands. Guess I am just going to have to order one.

Yes, the Rowen fit and finish is outstanding. I'm a guy who loves the little details, and if you had them both in your hand you can tell that the 12 is worth the extra money.
Im not a big fan of the old scales but that is an easy fix.

Both great designs tho, I am not a fan of the swedge on the 10 so I took mine off. The 12 however needs no modifications.

Unless you're one of those "grind off that ramp!" sort of people.....which I am NOT, BTW. I agree with Dex, here. Love the 12 so much it ended up with the only set of factory micarta I own. It is really a nice setup.
