Well, I just got myself a bk11 and immediately noticed the issue with the annoying rattle. To alleviate the problem, I simply rolled up some duct tape and slipped it down the side of the blade. After working the duct tape down the bottom, it completely eliminated the rattling. I debated sticking something squishy down there, such as foam or sponge. However, I realized this may create a nice home for some nasty bacteria that could dwell on my blade, not too good for food preparation. Although, any sheath is likely to harbor some nasty critters.
For those concerned with retention, this seems to have really tightened up the sheath's grip on my blade as well. So, if you are someone like myself who doesn't hate the stock sheath so much that you want to replace it right away, this is a workable solution.
